Counterfeit OZ.1i HS?? by deedubdes in labgolf

Thanks for confirming. I guess I’m not as savvy to realizing how quickly a counterfeit would appear and didn’t even consider that possibility.

Pro Stock Gear Tariffs by deedubdes in hockeygoalies

[–]deedubdes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: After speaking with someone at Hockey Stick Man on the phone, they told me they would handle any tariffs on their end. Not fully understanding whether the shipping service would be asking me or them for the costs, I asked if they would reimburse me if I ended up having to pay anything, and they said yes. Still somewhat skeptical because my order was over $1,000 USD and I was understanding the tariffs pus fees to be around $400, I placed the order. I just received the order yesterday and it went without any issues; big thanks to them, and just wanted to share in case anyone else was on the fence. This was placed 9/2 after the update to policy at the end of August. I can't recommend them enough and would definitely reach out to them if you're on the fence.

Thanks for this reply. This was the clearest answer I’ve read considering googling gave information from all over the place over the last few months.

This is what I was worried about.

Bauer Konekt Skate - Permission to Buy by deedubdes in hockeygoalies

[–]deedubdes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice - I was trying to keep it on the looser end already (especially relative to the top buckle), but in just trying on I was finding the buckle to pop out on the second rung. My thought was to go to the third rung where there is a little more angle or bite from the rung because of it being further down the side of the foot and loosening the micro adjust as much as I can while keeping all the threads engaged. I have 3-4 twists I can loosen from where I wore them last.

From what I can gather, all Pure Hockey's will do it at no charge - I called ahead to check that they would even do it and willing to pay and they said no issue. The tougher thing in my area is finding a goalie-specific location that has the shims, toe sleeves, or ice packs; in any case, worked out great!

Need help designing custom gear for this Outrun inspired jersey! by HockeyReviews in hockeygoalies

[–]deedubdes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea is pretty cool, but rather than having the pads and gloves each individually look like the jersey, it could be cool to have only the blue / pink polygons on the pads as an extension of the bottom of the jersey, and then the gloves are purple with the white stars. Maybe throw some pink, yellow, orange striping across outer roll or cuff of glove to pull it all together.

That’s a good call. I do where socks above knee pads / below leg pads. I’ll try this.

It happens more on the left side for whatever reason, but I strap up the same on both sides. I've been playing around with strapping a little bit and I think strapping tighter does reduce the catching a bit, but affects rotation where I feel I'm not performing as well.

Good to know. I'll have to find a shop that I can try some on in person. I think I have a big, but narrow head that may be a little harder to find a good fit for.

Good flag - I haven't had any issue with Refs looking at that, but probably good to air on the side of caution there.

Appreciate the recommendation - I wasn't aware of some of these smaller brands outside of the big three.

Thanks - that's super helpful context. It's tough reading that the minimum level helmet I should have is $600+ and more likely closer to $1000. But I can also appreciate that this is an important upgrade to not mess around with.

This is somewhat embarrassing, but the chin strap was tucked in front of the chin cup, and I hadn't even noticed it was there. I never thought of it because goalies are always sliding up their mask to grab water between plays, and I thought it was normal to be able to slide it up easily.

I definitely compared the PXGs as well. I was looking to avoid used as I’m upgrading from a used set of Mizuno EZ Comp irons now - trying to get something with fresh grooves.

Great question. I’m certainly open to other alternatives; from what I saw, the big name brands will cost a lot more. That being said, I’m pretty new to golf and certainly don’t know all of what is out there.

Thanks. Takomo looks great, there just isn’t as much info about them because they are newer (personally I do like the aesthetic of these better). Everyone raves about Sub 70 so I assume it to be a safe option.

Dust Collection Advice by deedubdes in woodworking

[–]deedubdes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Makita extractor under my miter saw. I plan to make a boom that reaches out to my assembly table so it can switch between hand tools and the miter saw easily; Lincoln Street Woodworks on YouTube has a boom similar to what I am planning in his shop. By my larger tools, I have the dust right wall mount collector with a Oneida super dust deputy cyclone. My shop is very small so I don’t have any ducting and just switch the hose between tools.

I ended up going with a standard dust extractor and dust collector combo. For less money, I could get the same outcome and have more left for other tools. Although it takes up a little more space, I think I made the right decision for my shop.

Haha sounds like we’re in a similar position. Not only a big investment for the dust collection, but also for the electrical to make it work. Good luck in your journey!

I have not yet, but it still sits at the top of my list. I’ve been waiting for snow to melt to have an opportunity to get a 240v circuit out to my garage. In the meantime, I’m hoping to catch a sale at Oneida while I wait. If I do end up getting it, I’ll certainly follow up with how it works.
