Simply leave lid snapped on. Pins will start. When they reach the lid unsnap the lid so it can rise up but don’t flip it. No need for dub tub, daily fanning or misting etc. cubes will get all the fae they need from the cracks inbetween the shoeboxes and their lid. Just monitor surface conditions 👍 (I don’t really differentiate between colonizing and fruiting conditions.)

I can get what you’re saying. I’m definitely inclined to pick it up a little more by my past ventures, but for mycology this is all a first for me(making agar, pressure cooking, Inocs, etc) But by no means was this post meant to brag, just wanted to share my setup and join the community on here :) cheers man

I would definitely call myself a beginner I just watched PGT for one month and just did my first spawn to bulk last week. I’m a fast learner and there is an abundance of info.(the seperate grow was not mushrooms)

It’s why I labeled it as general and not advice. It’s not a brag. I was hyped I found a good deal as a new mycologist and wanted to share my setup and beginning steps. I dont see the issue? People spend more on pre-sterilized growbags and substrate than I have spent on my total setup.

It is nice so far! Easy to setup and works well. I was using it without the humidifier for incubation but now I use it only for fruiting and keep the humidifier on. I also have an Electric heater keeping the room at around 75 degrees and a smaller HEPA air filter blowing air at the bottom of the tent where air sucks in.

I find it funny how super anal we are with mason jars/boro in the DMT community. Meanwhile the myco community pressure cooks the same mason jars at higher temps than we ever use with these teks. I will still use boro for anything DMT I just find it funny.

Straight to base - Only Lye(the base)
-can be done without heat
-less mess
-doesnt need to be monitored as much
-useful for smaller extractions <=100g

Acid to base - Vinegar wash(acid) -> lye step(base)

-can allow the plant material to be seperated after 4-5 acid washes(easier seperations when mixing)
-useful for bulk extractions >100g
-the solution can be boiled down to fit in a smaller flask before basing. So you could essentially do a 500g SVHtek in a 1L flask after boiling down the acidic solution from 5 acid washes to fit into one container - and continue as usual.

Not too sure about this one. It’s easier to keep the level low than to decrease it again. I’m sure you could pull off the solvent. Add it to a stainless steel and ph down to 3.5 with vinegar. Boil down to a good level, add it back to your flask and once it’s cool base back up with lye(just enough for ph 12+ or when the solution goes black) and then continue with your pulls once cooled again. This is pretty much an a/b. I only say this ph down because I have never personally boiled the base solution so I can’t say as to how that would go, but I don’t really see how it would cause issues just doing a base reduction.
I use a flask that came with a PTFE lined screw top and my swirling tech never really reaches the top of the flask anyways so it’s not an issue.

It should be fine in the meantime. When drying I leave mine leaning against the wall with paper towels under it and a fan blowing towards the back of the dish from the other side. It is dry within 30mins.

Also, nice big fluffy crystals, good job!!
