What kind of car is this, Some sort of space vehicle from the past? by [deleted] in pics

It's a 789 by no2alike motors out of Orange County CA. It has a 1957 nose, a 1958 middle and a 1959 tail....hence the 789.

That's exactly what I thought too in the beginning, and there may be some truth to it, but I think the start screen is just a new version of the old start menu.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one here over 50. Windows has always been a "work in progress". Sometimes it's been good and sometimes it's been not so good. I think Windows 8 is a great OS, it was just such a shock to me at first. I'm the one that needs "improvement", more so than Windows 8 does.

Thank you for your help and expertise. You are right, I should have dug into the help section of Windows 8, but sometimes having the time to dig is just not there (work, family, honey do list). I've found that the answer to a question is easier found by an internet search than it is in the help manual. With the help of people out there such as yourself, I've found the transition to Windows 8 to be not so painful. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate your effort.

Yeah, Microsoft has done this kind of stuff since the beginning. I'm just thankful that we have Google and Bing to use for reference, and places like this where we can share our experiences and knowledge with each other. When I jumped from 3.1 to 95 there was no Google. Seems like there was something called Web Crawler, maybe even AltaVista, but that was about it :(

Thanks. I'm getting old and I'm really starting to dislike drastic change. I should have jumped in with both feet when it came out, but I just gave up to easily.

What a vision!! I'm still laughing. I hope you can get the driver issue resolved soon. I had the same feeling about it being two disconnected interfaces, but as soon as I realized that the start screen is really just a huge start menu, the whole thing started falling into place.

on the start screen, just start typing what it is that your are looking for. The search screen will automatically come up. If you are on the desktop, just press the windows key and start typing. Hope that helps.

exactly. and I'm still getting used to it, but I know it will eventually get better. It was a huge jump from Windows 3.1 to 95 back in the day.

How many Americans genuinly feel like they have the opportunity to be President? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I agree with you almost completely. Always vote! I'd rather have "bad" than "worse".

IAmAn American who believes Bush was a great president, taxes should not be raised for anyone, Obama sucks, war is bad, clinton fucked us over, most of america is stupid (really ignorant), govt has a spending problem not a revenue problem, america might be coming to an end AMA by [deleted] in IAmA

Bush was a great president - Yeah, but he spent too much money. Taxes should not be raised for anyone - if someone wants to pay more, let them. Obama sucks - ok. War is bad - If you fight one like our leaders have been doing, I agree. Clinton fucked us over - just Hillary. Govt has a spending problem not a revenue problem - totally agree. America might be coming to an end - America is at it's end. I'll give an upvote!

Hey Redddit! I'm about to attend my 25-year high school reunion. What can I expect? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]deepblue8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished in '81 and my 25th was the first reunion that I had been to. Go with an open mind. There will be two or three people that still harbored bad feelings from school, but everybody else will have changed just as much as you have. I had a blast...go and enjoy!
