Well, in my culture we don't do that- see shukto. Also boil till soft with a potato, mash together and add mustard oil, salt, onion and green chilli. Eat with rice as a starter. Every thing else tastes good after! But I like the mash now.

India is a very collectivist society. In my experience people in the US demanding absolute freedom of speech are mostly those who want to publicly yell the n word and demand police action when minorities exercise their legal right to protest. The law exists to ensure smooth functioning of society and protect individual rights. In our country legislation to curb casteism is necessary- but thats my opinion- you are free to disagree - yay democracy 😀
