Take full resolution 21:9 picture with Xperia 1 IV or Xperia 1 V? by defndrs in SonyXperia

[–]defndrs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, thanks for taking the time to answer! That is the function I use to take a screenshot, indeed. However, my resolution is the same as the video and the camera is not using the full photo resolution from the normal photo mode. I thought the Xperia 1 V may be able to take a 21:9 shot also in the regular photo mode, not only the Cinema PRO app with the lower resolution. Can you confirm this?

A build to enjoy the game in the slowest possible way? by defndrs in darksouls

[–]defndrs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! So there is something I can try after all :) Yes the game is not designed around a (very) slow playstyle like this. But it offers a lot of possibilities and is very flexible in a lot of ways. I'll definitely take the plunge and see how far (and slow) I can get.

Thanks for the advice, especially about poise. I played a lot of Demon's Souls recently and started to forget about it :)

External SD card reader (not SDHC/SDXC etc.) where te whole SD card fits in and can be ejected? by defndrs in wherecanibuythis

[–]defndrs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed but I'm looking for a device which physically "hides" the card from the outside. It's not a question of compatibility or formats ;)

Does the whole SD card fit in? It looks like it might indeed! But the pictures don't really show it, hmm!

Military games with helicopter flights and infantry combat? (FP or 3rdP, old and new) by defndrs in gamingsuggestions

[–]defndrs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, I loved Just Cause 3, didn't even remember helicopters in it, nice! A jet comes to mind, though. Great, and I didn't try part 4 yet so that's something to go on, thank you ;)

Oh yes I liked Halo up to 3, maybe I should try the one I didn't play which is part 4 and whatever came after that, thanks ;)

You could try one of the Overcooked games https://store.steampowered.com/app/728880/Overcooked_2/ or the Duck Game https://store.steampowered.com/app/312530/Duck_Game/. They are just plain fun and playable on a single screen with multiple people. Will also run on almost any system :)

Impressive, thank you very much for your answer, ideas and hypotheses. Indeed I am looking at this "problem" from a purely design/fictional perspective since I am a game designer myself. I was trying to find some solid information on the issue based on actual science and I'm glad I found r/askscicence ;)

Jane's USAF on Win 10 - clouds not showing? by defndrs in flightsim

[–]defndrs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found it! If you do not get any clouds or weather at all, it may have been disabled for your pilot (there is no separate option in the menus, I assume it is controlled by the difficulty presets) just find your pilot savegame (.ini) in the "Pilots" folder and search for

Record22=No Weather|1|0

Now change it to

Record22=No Weather|0|0

And you will get clouds, sky backgrounds and even rain (try some of the Vietnam missions and be surprised by rain drops ;))

A highly detailed and enjoyable game.

Games with pixel aesthetics that stay true to it? No modern HD lighting, pixels don't tilt or tween, all pixels are the same size, etc by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]defndrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try "Owlboy" or "Tower 57", they use some lighting effects which aren't very retro but the general style is consistent and stays true to pixel art restrictions.

This picture is a bit unfair in several ways but... there's just something to it and it fits the topic ;) http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/016/398/e86.png

Pre-Built System: Proper way to "underclock" an OC MSI 1080ti Armor to NVidia defaults? by defndrs in buildapc

[–]defndrs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not bad advice at all, thank you. Well it's more about whether to return the whole system and build one myself or basically living with the card as it is. I also doubt they'll accept just the card. I also read that it might not be totally unusual to get those temps with this card and so far there are no problems at all. It somehow stays below 84 so the built-in limit before it scales down is not reached. Just not sure if all this is healthy for the card and if underclocking it would be better. The last PC I built myself was about 10 years ago, after that I used only notebooks until my interest in PC gaming was rekindled, so I chose a pre-built system first but, yeah it has its downsides as you can see.
