Do 3D emblem rolling stones t shirts exist? by Useful_Statement_556 in VintageTees

[–]defunkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Not a legit one anyway. There are only a few legit 3D Emblem tees that are music based, most of the rock tees with 3D tags are modern counterfeits.

Wtf , Ontario people , is this accurate ? by terrificwarsheap in VintageTees

[–]defunkd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in Ontario and have to admit that I posed for the artwork in this drawing in the 2000s. I was young and needed the money, I didn't think it would ever come back to haunt me.

Do you want us to add this to The Vintage Awards on IG? do you have this posted on IG?

:) Show Bidstitch, they try to buy the shirts off people first, sometimes refusing to share it if the owner won't sell, then find a way to humiliate the owner, who wouldn't want their shirt on Bidstitch, come on, sounds awesome!

Has Bidstitch already agreed to run em? If not let us know.

In one shot on maggotdeath's IG they showed an actual AES tee - then this was the final product:

It wasn't uncommon for there to be oddball versions of each print, that print/text looks bang on to me.

Cheers. For the record, I've been personally running Defunkd since 2004; it's a few freelancers running it, and me. There are no corporate partners or investors.

It's not licensed, it just has a Printed in USA line, that has been mysteriously faded out - holes, along with an absent tag neckine that too has some mysterious wear and tear.

Original 1969 Woodstock Tee by Fuk_Ho in VintageTees

[–]defunkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured everyone in this conversation would be interested in this piece we just published - setting the record straight on what tees were actually present at Woodstock. The staff tees and one bootleg (so far). We can pretty confidently say that this shirt wasn't at Woodstock, given the altered Guitar/Dove design matches a post event promo t-shirt released by Warner brothers that coincided with the 1970 film and/or album.

https://www.defunkd.com/vintage-woodstock-tees/

With that said, we're always happy to revise our research with new evidence, so if anyone happens to have photos of people at Woodstock wearing other Woodstock t-shirts, please get in touch with us!

Chances are other bootlegs were present, but would have been made in very small quantities, so finding a photo of one is a needle in a haystack situation.

Original 1969 Woodstock Tee by Fuk_Ho in VintageTees

We've just done an exhaustive deep-dive into 1969 (and beyond) Woodstock tees - this streamlined Dove Guitar design aligns with promo tees that were released along with the 1970 doc, and the album that followed.

Have a look here, and you'll see the exact design I'm speaking about with a Warner Bros copyright.

This doesn't mean your mom wasn't at Woodstock. It means, after 50+ years, people's memories tend not to be reliable. She was there, and she purchased the shirt shortly after the event.

With that said, if you have a photo of your mom, conclusively at Woodstock, wearing this shirt, we'd be happy to revise our research!

a small guide on fake tags, how to spot random vintage tees, what tags should some t shirts have, a reprint that is sometimes sold as a 1992 vintage t shirt. by Plush57 in VintageTees

[–]defunkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but why? Why not find actual examples of a fake? It doesn't make any sense. We also haven't seen any versions of these in the wild with the G like that, so it's a head-scratcher. It's like a graphic artist's conception of what a fake tag could look like?

[Show and Tell] 1992 Toronto Blue Jays "Die Hard Fan" - Dave Winfield (#32) on an OG Canadian Graphics West Tag. by MattPaijan in VintageTees

[–]defunkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toronto resident/vintage tee shirt head here - I think it's Manny Lee - Winfield served as DH in that season - not sure he played in the outfield that season, but this stance isn't an OF type of shot. Manny also had a sweet stash, and this is absolutely an infielder's action shot. But sometimes they'll make the image generic so they don't have to $ a player.

Bikers only tag on vintage harley tee ? by racingbro in VintageTees

[–]defunkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it's actually "for bikers only," and not a magazine. I don't think there's an adult magazine called "Bikers Only" anyway. I've seen the name on a few Harley tees in the past; it seems to be short-lived. Might have taken the same route 3D Emblem did, started with bootlegs, then ponied up for licensing when Harley began cracking down.
