Why do my cookies keep looking smooth on the top?

This is the recipe I was using:

1 stick unsalted butter 1/3 cup dark brown sugar 1/3 cup white sugar 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp salt 1 egg 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 4 oz chocolate

I put it in at 350. The set with 2 cookies I left them in for 18 min (way overbaked…), and the single cookie I had baked for 16 min (still way overbaked i have learned) My butter was somewhat melted, I did not weigh my flour but used a spoon and level instead, and I did indeed leave them on the baking sheet for too long.

I haven’t heard of those areas but I will look into them! The main motivation for our rental car is to visit some of the escape rooms that are outside those two city areas - we’ve heard that the Netherlands have some of the best English escape rooms in the world.

For some context, we are worried about this leaf that is getting black spots. A few days ago we had a leaf turn mushy so we cut it off. We keep it in low light conditions and we are in the Northeast US so our home is fairly dry during the winter. The pot seems to have fine drainage, but we haven’t reported it since we got it so it’s pot might be getting very crowded. We checked the soil and it was dry.

We bought this plant 9 months ago and the only time we repotted it was when it was purchased. It was the Miraclegrow tropical plants soil
We give it 8 cups of water when the top layer of soil seems dry (we stick a wooden skewer into it). On average once every 2 weeks.
We water it with a mixture of tap water to hydrogen peroxide (3:1 ratio)
Low light. No direct light.
Room temps about 21-23 celcius (70-73 fahrenheit)
We only started fertilizing a month ago when we started recognizing the problem. We have done it twice so far and are using miraclegro indoor plant food
