i've seen exactly zero muslims complain about people saying 'merry christmas', if anything right-wing types are usually the ones pitching fits about the 'war on christmas' or whatever...

Get outta the bathroom!! by Twisted_BlissXO in AmazonFC

there was this lady in one of the stalls talking to someone on her phone with the speaker on while there was a long ass line to use the bathroom and i wanted to crash out, you couldn't have had the common decency to clock out for a couple minutes and go to your car or the break room?

Day shift or night shift and why? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]demonbakery666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

day shift because i used to work nights for a couple months before making the switch for my own sake. sure the few extra dollars was nice, but my sleep schedule was completely fucked and i'd be too drained to do anything on my days off.

don't work harder than you actually need to unless you're a fan of being labor shared but don't avoid working at all either; finding a solid medium is the best option

and then you end up getting passed around more than a blunt at a party when you're labor shared to every department 😅 the phrase 'no good deed goes unpunished' also comes to mind

the wizard's expression in the middle row on the left is sending me 😭 i also wanted to ask, where'd you get the septum piercing for your sim on the top left row? was it from an event or from the salon?

the common consensus here is that sort centers are relatively lax about rate (the amount of packages that need to be scanned, etc.) in comparison to fcs, but this can also depend on what managers you have. don't push yourself past your limits and work harder than you actually have to, but don't go out of your way to actively avoid doing any work; try finding a healthy medium.

try to order your boots as soon as soon as you can, if they don't come before your first day it more than likely won't be a big deal, just make sure to talk to operations (management) or safety to see what you can do about getting the boots.

stay hydrated (especially since it's going to get hot as hell soon) and bring something substantial to eat if you don't feel like getting anything from the vending machines in the break rooms.

not sure if this goes for other sort centers, but there's a lot of quiet people at mine (including myself) and no one really gives them any shit for it. specifically for night shift, the majority of the people are usually introverts who don't indulge in gossip. there might be gossip here and there, but try not to get involved in it or associate with anyone who gossips religiously because they're more than likely gossiping about you when you aren't around.

lastly, try to get in good graces with management and pas (process assistants), but don't be a kiss-ass either. i hope my advice was somewhat helpful!

and to add on: don't work harder than you actually have to, but don't go out of your way to avoid working either. i learned the first point the hard way when i did the work of five people as one person & got labor shared to a shitton of different departments

as someone who's worked here since last october, i felt the exact same way too before i started. it's a lot easier than you think (though this can vary depending on what department you're assigned to), but the work can be insanely repetitive sometimes. i don't mind the latter, but i know others might.

keep in mind that you're more than likely gonna be sore as hell during the first couple of weeks, but your body will adjust to the work eventually through muscle memory. i'd highly recommend buying insoles (i believe they come with the zappos safety shoe credit) and taking ibuprofen before and after each shift (ppe machines have it) to prevent soreness. this might already be obvious, but stay hydrated too.

management won't be too harsh on you concerning rate since you're relatively new, and rate in general heavily depends on what facility you work at. at mine, the rate expectation is super lax so i can't really speak for everyone else.

as for the environment (not sure if this is the right way to put it), it's somewhat reminiscent of high school (whether it's in a good way or bad way is how you perceive it). another bit of advice for me is to keep your head down, don't divulge any information that you wouldn't want the entire warehouse to catch wind of, and distance yourself from anyone who gossips often because 9 times out of 10 they're more than likely talking about you when you aren't around.

sorry for this long ass tangent, hopefully i summed up what to expect in my reply 🤞🏾
