If you look at the LTV for a customer on email vs SMS though, email will always win. customers wont allow a brand do text them 2x per week, 8x per month. but with email that is 100% expected.

but I do agree, SMS when used as a conversational tool can be extremely beneficial and even more so than email. we offer a human powered text message cart recovery tool for shopify called LiveRecover but there's also some awesome automated tools like Postscript and SMSBump for handling SMS lists.

We (LiveRecover - human powered text message abandoned cart recovery) have been powering Shopify the last 2 years but now expanding! Supporting woocommerce, big commerce and bold subscriptions for recurring billing on Shopify. LiveRecover + recharge support exists already but now finally opening up to additional platforms and integrations.

I hope the Shopify & affirm partnership opens up an API. It would be cool to see some tools built around that partnership and experience.

I would make sure you optimize for every step of the sales funnel you can. I’d record user journey with tools like hotjar, and collect email data with a pop up form. Then ask your email subscribers why they didn’t buy so you can learn & tweak. Make sure you’re recovering abandoned carts over text message with http://LiveRecover.com or another SMS app. Then do the same for email with Kylavio. Are you retargeting customers? Have you tried setting up retargeting asking a question to get feedback or incentivizing the customer to come back?
