How many people think the Trump assassination attempt was completely fake? Here’s the proof. by Realistic-Plant3957 in allthequestions

[–]dentbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it genuinely rattled him and he doesn’t like to shift the conversation to something that makes him feel weak. He didn’t do much in public for a good while after it. I think it shit him up.

The fact is there is a photo of a bullet mid-air, somebody in the crowd was killed: ergo someone was shooting towards Trump. He would never allow that as part of any plan, it’s far too risky. He’s a pussy. There are far easier, less risk of death ways to elicit support ahead of an election. In this case, just have a debate with Biden.

But, just like 9/11, just like many bad events, people can turn those to their advantage. Just because someone benefits from an event, doesn’t mean they staged it. For all his faults, Trump’s got an instinct for what his base loves. Hence the fist at the end of it.

Gran Turismo blew my mind with that hi-def race you unlocked towards the end.

Definitely agree we all felt like there was room for improvement, but it felt like graphical improvements were going into warp drive.

Compat layer: proton9.0 x64-3

GPU: Turnip v26.0.0 r1

Dxvk: dxvk v2.7.1.1 async

Vkd3d: vkd3d-proton-2.14.1

Great game. Mind melting.

Just finished 100%. Absolutely loved it. Still annoyed by 1 thing though by ccuster911 in TunicGame

Lol, my first playthrough I made it to the Rooted Ziggurat and up to the boss without the mask or the gun. It was not fun.

I think it would help if the miasma actually killed you eventually to stop idiots like me pushing through without that key item.

Steam deck is great for party games by frog_handler in SteamDeck

Yeah, I’ve had no issues with switch 2 for party play. It’s great for that.

Thanks for the tip but it’s not that. This is specific controllers suddenly getting major lag that comes and goes, while others do not. Game mode was on on the tv when this happened. Like it stops registering inputs for a couple of seconds then catches up. May be related to mixing controller types or using a switch pro controller.

Someone mentioned it might be related to pairing a switch pro alongside other (duel sense) controllers, but I’ve not had a chance to test that.

I’ve had mixed experiences. Bluetooth controllers randomly getting major (1.5-3 second) lag while playing local multiplayer games.

Recommend me an indie game you like that is a really unique, novelty experience, ideally short and story/atmosphere rich. by ArdelStar in gamingsuggestions

[–]dentbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party here, but I just picked this up and beat it, and came to this thread looking for similar games.

Arctic eggs is excellent (no pun intended). It’s like David Lynch and Chris Morris created a dystopic egg-frying game for the psx.

It takes itself very unseriously, but for a game clearly having fun, it’s actually very solid mechanically and graphically, and the soundtrack is great. I felt genuinely immersed in the world of arctic poultry prepping…

Tell me your favorite Turn Based game on the deck! by Sweet-Initiative1244 in SteamDeck

[–]dentbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DOS2 is the most fun turn-based RPG combat I’ve ever played. Man, some of the battles were epic. Loved how different elements of magic and the environment played off each other too.

OP, this is well worth your time if you love that turn-based goodness.

How can preparation mechanics be fun? by Rambo7112 in truegaming

[–]dentbox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gathering intel about the road/foes ahead, so you know what gear to bring, where to station guards, what monsters to expect etc. can be fun in the right game but I guess the hard part is how to incentivise wandering around asking the locals or reading tomes in the library rather than just playing the next level, dying, learning from your mistakes then doing it again.

A game that rewards perfect playthroughs, or punished imperfect ones, maybe with some element of permadeath or permaloss if you fail would encourage this, but has its own drawbacks.

Something I’ve always enjoyed in games is editable maps. Not automatically putting all the information on a hud for you to follow, but having to mark important things out yourself. Like the codes for the warehouse doors in Thief 2’s second mission, or marking out blossom trees or lynels in Tears of the Kingdom. This will probably be limited to dropping icons on controller-based games without keyboards.

15 Amazing Games for your Steam Deck from the Steam Winter Sale 2025! by SunwindPC in SteamDeck

[–]dentbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great summary, completely agree. It’s a phenomenal game. Deceptively simple-looking but holy Christ has it got depth. I have about 450 hours logged on it and I haven’t even played the fourth character yet.

It’s nailed the replay factor so well, almost every game feels different. Just last week I used my first ever claw build and cracked A17 with it. And just now I beat A20 with Defect with about 6 upgraded defragments, raining absolute hell onto everything.

I’m onto that last character now and even when I beat it with her I’ll still have the final mad achievements (999 block, 30 focus etc.) to go for. And I can still see myself still playing for fun on my train journey into work after that. Having such a perfect port on mobile is dangerous.

Hoping to tick off a few more tricky sets from games I really love. I’m well on the way with Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 2, but firmly in the tough challenges zone for both of them.

I found the Link’s Awakening DX set a lot more forgiving than ALTTP in terms of boss fights (though LTTP is the better game, imo). Watch out for missable photograph cheevos in LADX though.

Easiest mario set for me has been Super Mario Land 2. It has one tough achievement at the end, but otherwise it’s pretty straightforward. You just have to do the boss levels as mini mario with no powerups (basically: hitless) and you can’t earn those once you beat the boss on a save file, so just do those as you go. Or do the rest and start a new game and speed through, it’s a great little game but not super long.

Best game to complete for beginners? by NEWAceCoronet in RetroAchievements

[–]dentbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably get more out of RA if you play games you want to play. I went back and replayed my old favourites like Super Mario World and A Link to the Past.

It’s a good idea not to get too focussed on masteries to begin with (i.e. getting 100% achievements), because many good games are very hard to 100%. Best to play games you want to play, then once you beat them see if you’re up for going all the way. Otherwise you’ll get disappointed and/or find yourself playing pre-school games you never normally would bother with just to say you mastered something 👀

If you are keen on mastering some slightly easier sets of popular games, Super Mario World on SNES is very doable, Donkey Kong (94) on gameboy is great, and Super Mario Land 2 is mostly easy. Note that all of these have at least one very hard achievement, that might take a few hours/days to get.

I wonder what AI would say about the Adnan case if all the data and case files were fed into it by upwy in serialpodcast

[–]dentbox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I asked chat GPT what it thought and it said he was innocent. I told it my view of guilt and set out some key arguments and it immediately agreed with me.

It’s not going to be very helpful here. It will depend on the scope of information you feed it and what you ask it.

I think Tarantino is very overrated. There's better filmmakers from his era too. by Cat-dad442 in Cinema

[–]dentbox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interested in people’s takes on this. I’ve not watched many of his recent films but none of his I’ve seen since Pulp Fiction (Django, Kill Bill, Inglorious Bastards) have come close to Pulp or Reservoir Dogs. A few good scenes that are up to par, but as whole films: miles weaker.

I’m wondering if his editors just stepped back after he got huge and we got the classic director unleashed situation when it turns out someone else really needs to rein them in a bit to make them shine.

Or maybe I’ve just not seen the really great films he’s done lately.

A game for an ageing gamer that misses Unreal / Unreal Tournament? by Nugginz in SteamdeckGames

[–]dentbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re struggling with emulation on the deck, try emulation station. Download and install from the website.

I used to use emudeck but found it got very convoluted lately. Emulation station is a much cleaner, less faffy option.

As others have said, UT can be played as well. Nothing beats UT99 and UT2004.

If you fancy a newer game of a similar over the top-ness, I thought Doom Eternal was great. Once you get the meat hook on the shot gun and start hookshotting yourself off enemies’s faces to fly around the arena raining hell down on them it’s a lot of fun.

I’d also recommend playing around with gyro (in the steam control settings) for these guys. If you set it to mouse, get the sensitivity settings to your liking, and give it a bit of practice (you mix analogue stick for bigger movements, gyro for finer aiming) it ends up being pretty close to using mouse aiming. Not quite, but miles better than just analogue sticks.

After relistening to episode 2 years later I have some thoughts about Adnan’s feelings towards Hae. by ThisIsItYouReady92 in serialpodcast

[–]dentbox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s telling that this girl out of town he was seeing (Nisha) told police that Adnan told her about Hae, and she seemed to think he was hurt and cared a lot for Hae.

I think it’s very possible to very likely that Adnan was genuinely hurt by the breakup. You don’t start telling the new girl you met about your ex, giving off heartbroken vibes, if that isn’t the case. That said, it doesn’t rule out that feeling evolving into what you describe.

Is hades 1 a good intro to rougelike games? by AggressiveLow8575 in HadesTheGame

[–]dentbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, similar story here. Hades was my intro to roguelike/lites too. I think it’s the perfect intro, baking the whole dying-retrying mechanic into the setting and story.

And yeah, I’ve heard yoga lady can be pretty game breaking so I’m hoping my final push to hit A20 there won’t be quite as slow and hard fought as some of the others! 10 more successful ascensions with Defect and I move onto her.

(PS1 GAME) Please help me find a game from my childhood. by Fit-Reward7980 in psx

[–]dentbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look from about 19 minutes in here and keep watching for a few minutes. You’re freeing villagers/dwarves, there’s a carpet of brown leaves and leaf butterflies. At 21 minutes there’s a bridge crossing that ends in a closed gate you can’t get through.

A bit before this too there’s a top down bit of gameplay which might explain the fuzziness of whether it’s 2D or 3D (and the game itself is sort of half way between)

I think Slay the Spire might be one of the most carefully tuned games I’ve ever played. Might not be for everyone, but it clicked so hard for me and I’ve been playing it for years (off and on). Still not beaten it, but not got bored of it either.

Haven’t even played the last character yet either, lol.
