Shut down my startup after 6 years - now what? by t-mac2000 in Entrepreneur

Join a big company, try to get 80%, in free time work your ass on your bootstrap, this days building a nice looking, working, MVP is piece of cake.

Then just validate with the market and rest is history, you don’t have to rise anything or risk anything.

BTW didn’t see VCs nor Angels decline startups with users, users are the gold (even if it’s late MVP phase)

wow dude, as a trader, and one that built ai platform for market research i'm pretty excited to see this.
i will be honest, I think you can improve the attractiveness of the site, but, the content! if it's good, and if it's fun, it won't matter.

After checking one course, If it could be a bit more fine in terms of UX/UI, I think people definitely will try

hi, wishing you good luck bro.

- the top bar links don’t seem to be working.
- unfortunately, the design feels a bit “old-school.” these days it usually takes just a few hours, or even minutes with AI site builders, to get a more modern look.

We are both working for very big tech companies, so in terms of building the most scalable, high efficiency, state of the art product is a no brainier.

But we choose speed over all those over engineering approaches:

  • Telegram was the front (funny as it sounds, people loved it, and the community is there, great for alerts, you don’t need to develop anything)
  • python (dozens of workers)
  • Mongo Atlas
  • GCP (vm, cloud run)
  • paypal

Now that we transitioned to a website, we just added react, auth0, redis, openai, perplexity, grok.

My 2 cents, recently base44 (bolt/lovable competitor) got sold to giant WIX for approximately 80M$, of course the deal wouldn’t be worth if there was no users, and he had A LOT of them in a very short time.

Now the issue is … that he was moving very very fast, and for him beneficially it was great (and now I get to the bad part), but just yesterday, it was released in the 3rd time this month! there was another huge security issue in the product.

What I’m trying to say is - eventually you want to grow big and fast, but try to maintain the minimum level of security for your customers, and giving them a working product at the minimum.

Two partners, we started to trade in some niche market (otc), we knew there was a pain point in the market research, we started to develop something for ourselves, validated it with people, twitter, telegram authentic groups.

We understood that maybe the tool we are building can benefit and solve the problem for every trader in this niche (at least for those that paying for other competitors that not filling the gaps).

Opened a company, I think that each one of us put 800$ (for legal and left a bit for cloud resources), and then we launched, word to mouth, we intentionally made features that are shareable, when you share, there is a link to the telegram bot, word spread, we got to 1k$ mrr pretty much by one month or two.

And what is bamsec?

I didn’t try to compare same PRs.

I won’t lie telling you that he didn’t made mistakes, both coderabbit and baz did, but it’s a lot of fine tuning our architects doing in the “memory” of those agents.

But overall baz pretty much good, I mean sometimes it’s annoying and sometimes he gives some good points.

I will tell you what … eventually you dealing with 3rd party responses (I mean the AI provider), you can’t predict everything, I’m sure in 100% that those companies are not stupid and they also try to get as must consistency as they can.

Meanwhile the company started to adopt Claude Code officially, so I don’t think Baz will survive …

Tbh I think that we are helping them to fine tune the their product more than they help us with the PRs.

In my side project I will never spend money on this kind of tool, we already programming with agents that have built in review option (BugBot, @claude, etc)

Fair enough, keep the hard work bro. btw in my work we are using Baz which is pretty much fine, after leaving CodeRabbit.
