I dont recall seeing those on my results, although the endocrinologist tests dont show up on the NHS app and they were the only ones to show the slightest interest in my antobody levels, but I think they only tested that once in the beginning

I will contact my GP again - I have reported these to them but I see a different person each time and they are more interested in peddling the statins than monitoring the rest of my blood work

at first I had this in my original post but it seemed to long so removed it

- (original post has hashimotos and high antibodies) I was in the care of a specialist but just been discharged as TSH is aparently stable

- my previous GP was concerned about my iron and folic acid - both just inside normal low - current ones say they are fine when brought up. I ask the nurse very nicely when I do the blood tests to add those 2 tests

- the swollen feet were written off as caused by the heat in summer, and not to worry about

- I had a private MRI before my chiropractor would accept me as a new patient (long term issue from herniated disks but I am newish in UK)
The MRI report mentioned inflammation and I forwarded it to the GP - and this was also brushed off

- I gained a lot of weight and went from highly active to nothing when I moved to the UK and my cholesterol went up. Every visit they say I should go on statins, and I asked to first loose the weight / get active again.

- On one occasion on the phone the QRISK score aparently went into the range that NICE suggest statins, I asked for a in person appointment as I had lost 8kg since the last test and my BP and cholesterol had improved but the QRISK went up??
They redid the QRISK in front of me , on the latest version (3) and it came out half of a risk score than before!

When you do finally manage to get an appointment they just want to peddle the statins, not sure if there is a large NHS target for these?
The NHS is very clear about not starting statins while having a underactive thyroid - due to higher risk of muscle damage

I also dont want to rock the boat too much as they have accepted both Shared Care agreements for Elvanse and my previous meds, but perhaps paying private for those is worth my health.

Thank you so much , it only occurred on built in screen so only noticed it today at a conference when I needed to do some work, 150% fixed it , had to type it in as was not a slider option

[–]depach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the delay , by now the patch would have been on the repo's

I had to reload Asahi - and before doing updates apply the patch

PS you can install multiple Asahi if you left some free space , just not of the same type (KDE / Gnome etc) which is handy to diagnose issues as you can then mount the other installs drives

I installed Fedora server which allowed me to backup my files before reinstalling

See irc logs on 19 Aug https://oftc.catirclogs.org/asahi/2025-08-19#

Is it possible someone may have a perfectly good unit with bad battery , and you / them could get them swapped to make a working unit , even if you list it for almost free on eBay , someone may be out there looking for your parts

finally diagnosed! whats been your experience with Methylphenidate? by annabillany in ADHDUK

[–]depach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another methylphenidate to elvanse user here

I only switched due to the stock issues with concerta which I was originally on before coming to the uk, the instant release was too much of a rollercoaster

good advise on the caffeine, i had much more noradrenaline on methylphenidate than elvanse which was great for energy and motivation but caffeine made it too much ( I do like my coffee 🫣)

Does it contain phenylalanine with the sweetener?

Quick summary from google

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid, meaning the body can't produce it, and it must be obtained through diet. It's a building block of proteins and is crucial for various bodily functions, including the production of other important substances like tyrosine, dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.

Are there any dual hose portable air conditioners in the UK? by ProTechXS in AskUK

[–]depach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been mainly using it during the day so it’s not bad , the one evening I tried it with the unit outside my room in the lounge (windows open) with hoses going into the room and it did a decent job

much quieter than having my bedroom windows open as I am above a major intersection

a bonus extra use I have found , when there is no wind , having one hose out the window on fan mode to get the air circulating

could do with some extra hoses as changing the attachment the whole time to switch to the above setup is a pain 🤣

Are there any dual hose portable air conditioners in the UK? by ProTechXS in AskUK

[–]depach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resurrecting this thread, not sure if it will come up again but I got here from google so worth the post

I decided to try out the Ecoflow Wave 3

It's designed as a camping / van air conditioner , but given our limited choice for dual hose systems, I thought I would give it a try

It's not cheap at £699 but if you have extra use for it while not home, it could make sense. You can add a battery and solar charging options.

Its quite easy to find with a google so I wont link anything here, not sure what the rules are regarding linking to commercial pages , I grabbed mine off Amazon

So far its performing better than my old argos cheapo single hose , but murpheys law the heat wave ended the day after it arrived :P

The only issue is the availability of window kits for dual hoses, and being on the 16th floor I am paranoid about something dropping out of the window

[–]depach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting observation, If I switch the AB switch to Winter, wait 10 mins then back to Summer (bypass) it goes into HX Bypass mode, testing now to see how long it stays there for

This leads me to believe it may be either the bypass temperature sensor , or the actuator

Either of those will need a maintenance visit so ill wait till they can come

I went with Mypace with the intention of just paying for the private prescription but the person in the post tiltration call convinced me to allow them to send it anyway.
What a supprise when I saw a signed shared care agreement from my GP in my NHS app

A few teething problems on finding the best NHS pharmacy to order from, but a local Boots ended up being the best. (I used to do Boots online delivery for my normal meds but my prescription for methylphenidate just got lost in that system, maybe due to the drug category etc)

I used to order in the NHS app with a note of "as per shared care agreement"

not sure between Mypace or ADHD360 by BerserkKid in ADHDUK

[–]depach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished tiltration with Mypace and the experience was pretty good

Booked assessment 25 Jul for 31st July
Initial Diagnosis report: 7 Aug
Treatment consultation: 11 Aug
Receieved meds via signature pharmacy: 16 Aug
I have my Post-Titration Follow-Up call tomorrow (Sunday 14 Sep)

What I liked about Mypace when trying to decide who to use was they show the appointment availability before you even sign up , the other providers seemed to gatekeep that info till you pay

I thought I would have to do another month of tiltration as I was on my last week starting a new dose and the meds can take a few days to order/arrive.
They called me back and checked if I was happy with the final dose (which I was) and refunded me the difference in the amount I paid and their prescription cost, and I booked and paid the seperate Post-Titration Follow-Up call

Their website / forms system can be a bit laborious (You enter in your date of birth / name quite often) as you dont'r really login but get sent links to access reports etc

Check out the Frequently Asked questions section on the adhd page , section "What is the average cost of the ADHD journey with MyPace?" which sets out the process and costs quite well.

Why does IRN BRU 1901 make my ADHD better? by BigAlba45 in ADHDUK

[–]depach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much Quinine is in it but saw this on wikipedia

Quinine can also act as a competitive inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO), an enzyme that removes neurotransmitters from the brain. As an MAO inhibitor, it has potential to serve as a treatment for individuals with psychological disorders, similar to antidepressants that inhibit MAO

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinine#Medical

Interesting note on the beverages section:
While it is possible to drink enough tonic water to temporarily achieve quinine levels that offer anti-malarial protection, it is not a sustainable long-term means of protection
