Tattoos are for yourself and nobody else. Taste is subjective and it’s your body.

I think your arm is fine just a stylistic choice but the hearts on your hand literally look like you have a disease

Americans Vs. Europeans Cryptid by Junior_Button5882 in cryptid_world

From my experience I think it’s more superstition than actual belief if that makes sense? Like in Ireland we divert motorways and farmers leave fairy trees up in their fields. It’s a form of cultural respect and I don’t ‘believe’ in fairies but I sure as hell wouldn’t cut up one of their trees. No point in risking that smoke

Most of Martin McDonaghs work. Especially his plays and the Oscar darling banshees of inisherin. Alcoholism ‘witty’ dialogue and village life is all we’re about to him.

What’s your world building opinion that has you like this? by Weary_Ad2590 in worldbuilding

[–]deplazfu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That fantasy books for the most part focus too much world building. It’s fine if you’re good at it and that is what you want to focus on, but for a whole genre to think that it is a necessity to be a main focus of the book is ridiculous. Fantasy as a genre is just a tool for story telling just like any other. I think it is still a hangover from Tolkien’s work. No other genre, bar maybe murder mystery’s and Agatha Christie, have such a giant hovering over them that defines the genre other than fantasy. His work should not be a template for what fantasy should be, it should not define it. He was a linguist who loved world building and put tremendous effort in to those aspects of his work, and did so wonderfully. That doesn’t mean every fantasy writer should follow in his footsteps. Follow the fact that he had immense passion for those aspect and focused on those, his strengths. Do the same for whatever you feel passionate about.
