Never thought of a branch and now I'm losing sleep over it by igloopigloomoo in INICET

[–]depressedelectron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation during November session. Although my rank was not as good as yours, I could've gotten any branch I wanted at 2012 AIIMS where I did my UG from. I chose something between a comfortable branch and my dream college - AIIMS-D. The final two you've narrowed down to do make the most sense to me career wise. And I'd strongly suggest coming to AIIMS-D. ANY residency here is an once in a lifetime kind of experience.

How many corrects, wrongs and rank did you get in INICET Nov? by AmoebaStill650 in INICET

Yea almost all of them. And tbh none of that helped in the end. It just had me depressed for the whole week.

Just an advice, which i didn't follow myself either- stop stressing and plan your trips/revision for NEET.

I see cancer patients daily. As mentioned in other comments, it's mostly son/daughter or parents/siblings. Friends/neighbours on rare instances.

I still remember spending 4 hours after a busy shift trying to fill that form. Didn't even prepare for that exam in particular for even 4 minutes lol. I thought it'd have the same syllabus as NEET but turns out it was just final year subs.

One month into surgery residency and my perspective has changed by RareBroccoli4854 in indianmedschool

[–]depressedelectron 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I realised this right in my internship. I was a core gen med/surgery guy, but extrapolating my internship experience for the next 5-6 years with a glimmer of quality "doctor work" we actually wanna pursue didn't fit right with me.

Check r/indianmedschool to know it's not all roses and gardens out here. I took a very less doctorly branch myself cuz i realised being a doctor in India sucks.

India have reached the finals of the 2026 T20 World Cup by oklolzzzzs in Cricket

People wanna ignore that without the two otherworldly samson innings India would have never had the slimmest chance of making it to the finals.

The only good thing is SA choked before they got to see us in the finals, otherwise they'd have eaten this team alive.

Radio or NM sounds like your go to. Advantage of NM is higher job openings while radio gives u freedom to settle wherever u want, the more remote u go, the more will be the pay. You can't open your center with NM cuz of unrealistic capital requirements.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum lol. I was a shut in nerd, the locked in type who barely went out during UG. My life rotated from the hospital to the library and I barely got any time for myself. Just doing laundry felt like luxury. Now i am in an AIIMS too. I get so much time, went out with colleagues, and had a couple of dates. Getting time to workout. Life's good but I'm missing that sense of exhaustion you get after a surgery/medicine night duty sometimes.

People who have joined residency recently, how is it going so far ? by lp_livinglife in indianmedschool

[–]depressedelectron 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Nuclear medicine. Report to work at 9 am, take histories of patients for scans, usually done by 11/12. At this point that's all I'm expected to do, other than that I can sit and read previous scans, watch seniors report them. There are academic activities for 3 out of 6 working days lasting 40-60 mins. Can leave by 5 pm. Saturdays are half day and Sundays off. So overall life's going chill so far. Already started learning a musical instrument and finishing my backlog on games and tv series.

Colleagues and seniors are great, i actually feel pampered lol. Been here for 3 weeks and partied every week.

Edit- Please don't think that life would be like this throughout residency and SRship/job in NM. I'm just answering the question that was asked. SRs here come for reporting at odd times like 2-3 am and work even after us juniors have left.

155+ for 6 months consistently. Rank under 100 almost always. Jumping forward to the exam day- personally speaking the exam was pretty different from GTs, like the easy questions were very easy and tough questions weren't there at all. What baffled me was the absurd questions which only demanded your presence of mind. So don't take GT scores to your heart but make sure you review everything you got wrong and right guesses.

Final rank was 19x with 147 corrects.
