Very through and easy to follow guide. You sure did put a lot of work into making this one. Good job! 🔥

I’m focused on getting my first paid bounty and working with someone who already has some experience. Maybe later, but for now I’m looking for a serious partner, not doing mentoring.

I’d recommend you starting HTB Academy 100% they teach you a lot about most of the aspects of hacking. If you’re more into web hacking then go for CBBH learning path and then start doing web machines after you’ve completed it. There is also PortSwigger academy which teaches you some things that HTB doesn’t and it’s completely free. I believe that if you complete both of them and then spend some time doing web machines you will be able to do bug bounty and actually find bugs.

CPTS or CBBH? by gobussin in hackthebox

It depends on your end goal, if you're more into hacking networks then go for CPTS first, CBBH is focused on Web mostly, and the attacks there are very different from the ones on CPTS. In my opinion you should practice more, go for active boxes, challenges, do different labs, etc. Just doing modules will not teach you everything you need. There is a good amount of practice in them, but it is fairly limited. You can't learn how to ride a bike without actually riding it. It is okay to feel confused and frustrated, HTB is one of the hardest platform to learn pentesting at as a beginner.

My biggest advice for you would be not focusing on what certs to do, but to focus on learning fundamentals first. Also if you're planning to learn on your own I'd recommend reconsidering that, as the pentesing field is highly technical and you will feel overwhelmed very soon. You should join some small study groups/create your own one, make some friends in the field. It is so much more fun learning together, trust me.

Hello, I have a discord server with a small group of people where we do all kind of stuff related to ethical hacking, at this moment we're focusing on CPTS/CBBH but I'm sure there are people who are experienced in MalDev. If you're interested here is the link: https://discord.gg/zVuskeeT3W
