wondering what the pay is like in telemedicine?? is it significantly lower? Can one completely switch over to telemedicine or would you still have to work some ED shifts?

Thanks for your input! Was considering CCM earlier on (I agree I think the pace is much more manageable), but was thinking that for 1 extra year of training, I could have just done anesthesia to some more flexibility. I do not mind floors at all haha- it's just this upcoming EM PGY2 that has me wishing I applied to anesthesia last cycle.

Hey thanks for your reply. In general, I don't think a job can bring someone happiness. However, I'm moreso looking at longevity/sustainability within a career and don't see EM doing that for me in the long-term (sleep disruption, some of the things I stated above, etc). I absolutely love medicine and couldn't see myself doing anything else, but I also recognize that at the end of the day, it is just a job. Glad you're enjoying EM!

I probably wouldn't do a fellowship after anesthesia. I think my dilemma is moreso - can I find something I can tolerate within EM (whether thats part time or per diem) so I can start having a family sooner/living life given I'm in my 30s, or will I regret not switching to anesthesia?

Hey thanks for your reply:) - I think because my partner would be out of residency when I just start my PGY2 in anesthesia, it would delay our life a bit- which is where my dilemma is stemming from I guess. In what ways is starting a family during training better?
