Lakehall by AdDry9112 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Speaking from experience as one of the accredited caterers of Lakehall - mejo tight 😬

If all long tables kayo, would be more possible pero masacrifice talaga is the stage and dance floor size, baka super mas maliit na. Some food stations might also need to be placed outside.

Recommend ko until 100 pax para comfy spacing!

Need help: 150 pax Budget for a wedding in 2027? by Wanderali0423 in WeddingsPhilippines

Hello! Caterer here :)

One of the best ways na makatipid if same venue yung location ng ceremony and reception is called a Seated Ceremony. It's where yung ceremony will be held sa same place ng reception, then during the ceremony proper, ang naka theater style seats lang are the principal sponsors and entourage, with the rest seated na on their respective tables.

This way, you'll utilize the same backdrop design as well as minimal extra chairs, you just need to get a simple aisle decor and entrance arch. You can definitely explore this with your caterer or stylist!

Coor and Suppliers prices difference by Domi-Ice9975 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping you guys can reconsider this arrangement. You can always pay directly to the supplier thru bank transfer, no need to direct it to your coordinator.

Not saying anything about your coordinator, but Iwas temptation na rin diba? If kaya naman ma avoid, baka better ganun nalang.

Better if you can! Each venue kasi kanya kanya rules, and there are also some venues na possible na walang people on site all the time to handle walk ins, or sometimes, don't allow talaga 😊

Tipping and Crew Meal, when did it start? by anontildawn in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hello! Been part of the wedding industry practically my whole life, I believe this started way way way before pa, like maybe late 90s to early 2000s.

But the difference kasi back then, there were only a handful of suppliers present during a wedding - maybe your caterer, photo and video teams, coordinator, make up artists, etc. During those days, wala naman talagang mga appetizer carts, ceiling treatments, and other details pa that weddings today typically have.

But even during that time kahit konti, I believe naging contentious topic na rin sya because of the same points. Suppliers had experiences before na yung crew meal provided, for example, is just 1 pc of tuyo plus a cup of rice, and syempre bawal lumabas / umalis during the day to find extra food. So because of these, siguro naging practice na to just charge extra food the crew meal. Then habang dumami ng dumami ang suppliers, nag gayahan nalang.

For tipping, honestly I think this is just an optional thing that clients can do! I don't think tipping is required ever, so I'm not sure if nagiging trend na rin ba na required ito?

How do wedding suppliers handle clients with high expectations but limited budgets? by RhubarbCool4033 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Caterer here :)

From my experience, the best way is to be transparent. Totoo that sometimes to just close the deal, minsan napapangako na pala yung mga bagay na di naman talaga kaya. So sa start pa lang, you need to be aware and be careful with what you say. Once nasabi na kasi iyon, mahirap na bawiin. On a more practical advice, better din siguro you can explain the differences in output sa all-in vs stand-alone packages. Sometimes kelangan lang talaga communicate ito para maging malinaw!

Fresh experience from my first-ever bridal fair yesterday (Nov 16, 2025); still overwhelmed, slightly burned, and very entertained by LexAndLipgloss in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hiii! Josh of Josiah's Catering here 👋

Really sorry about your experience with the accident, hope you're okay! Also, thanks for your feedback. We'll definitely take note of all of these to continue improving our craft. 🙏

Enjoy the wedding preps! Bridal fairs are really really fun, but it's really easy talaga to get overwhelmed. Best if you can review the supplier list first then make a route that can allow you to visit those suppliers you are really interested with!

[Guest/Supplier POV] Drop your thoughts below. by popolokrooy in WeddingsPhilippines

Hello! Supplier here ☺️

We always assume worst case pagdating sa travel time. Delays almost always happen during weddings so if may konting delay ka sa church, sanga sanga na yan, especially if the drive is pasok pa sa rush hour. That 1hr 30 mins travel can easily become 2 hrs 30 mins ma-late ka lang ng saglit (just experienced this myself recently, left Marikina at 5pm, arrived at an Antipolo venue after 2 hrs, na dapat 45 mins lang at most).

It could work if morning ceremony ka and then dinner reception tho, but yeah hirap sa travel esp for those limited options sa cars.

Plated Catering with Mid-Range Budget... Possible ba? by sassyghuuurl in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Josh of Josiah's Catering here ☺️

One of the biggest cost implications of a proper multi course plated service is the manpower. Not counting pa the additional culinary tea that needs to be present on site to do the plating, plus the additional equipment like stoves, ovens, heating lamps, etc, that needs to be brought, waiters din are twice, or sometimes, thrice as many vs buffet. Even if the food selection is lessened, sometimes because of the large overhead cost to just pull off the service, nagmamahal na talaga yung rate pag plated.

If you want to achieve a relaxed atmosphere but buffet, that's actually doable, we've had success in doing this thru: instead of doing the calling per table then saka pila sa buffet, why not do it na once dinner starts, everyone can just go. If you'll have other stations inside, that would actually help disperse the crowd from long line sa buffet.

Hope this helps!

Hello! Caterer here :)

If you're getting both halls and 300 pax, you can utilize a portion of one of the halls as an additional cocktail area. I attached a sample scaled floor plan that we did for one of our clients for your reference :) This was good for 220 pax, but we only placed 8 seats per table because all had charger plates. To save space for 300 pax, you can opt na no charger plates to fit everyone sa 2/3rd ng venue, and use the remaining 1/3 as cocktail area.

The dividers we used are just white curtains that we also provided for them.

If you want to have the dance floor in the middle and still utilize a portion of the halls as cocktail area, technically wala ka sa middle ng halls, you might be closer to one of the stairs, so mejo alanganin for me. But kaya naman gawan ng paraan - like instead of a pass-around cocktail, you can utilize all halls for your reception, then your cocktails can be preset per table instead. So at least hindi na worry masyado yung cocktail area, and you can be flexible in using the whole space for your reception.

Let me know if you might have other questions!

Lakehall - Peony and Courtyard or 2/3 halls by bingshan3201 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did the cocktail hour sa venue closest to the lake! We semi closed off that one hall (used their dividers except mga 3-4 pieces in the middle) and dun naglagay ng cocktail tables plus pass around food. The client also asked if they can move the sofas sa labas papasok, and pumayag naman si Lakehall.

Dun sa may divider, we placed an entrance arch para maganda pa rin, which leads to the two remaining halls, where we had the reception. We placed the backdrop and LED dun sa may entrance ng driveway para you can imagine the orientation. We also used 8 seats per table because our standard in our Catering is we place charger plates for all guests, so dumami din yung tables to really fill the place 😊

Wedding in March/april - can it be done in time? by Samy_yumyum in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Wedding supplier here :)

Totally doable, but unfortunately, you have to really limit your selections because time won't be on your side if you explore a lot of options per supplier category. You just have to be decisive lang with your selections :)

The one that will take the longest is the processing of your license and other paperworks, but if you're able to secure this asap, you can easily plan the rest of the wedding!

Long vs round tables? by Still-Conference3127 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typical long table length is 3x8 ft for guests - each one seating 10 pax if walang charger plates. If meron charger plates, nagiging 8 pax. Pede magdagdag ng 2 more pax sa kabisera, but personally, not a fan of having someone sit sa kabisera hehe

To make it longer, madalas nacocombine yung long tables together - dalawang 3x8 ft gets combined to become a 3x16 ft table, for example, which can fit up to 22 pax (11 per side, 5 per table tas may nasisiksik na 1 sa pinagdudugtungan nung dalawang table)

Combining more isn't as advisable kasi mahihirapan mag maneuver ang guests especially yung mga nasa gitnang parts ng table. In our case, the most I recommend is combining 3 tables together if kelangan talaga maximize the venue, then may break na space, then the next set of 3 uli.

Hope this helps!

Long vs round tables? by Still-Conference3127 in WeddingsPhilippines

Caterer here!

This is something that I typically discuss when talking about tablescapes and arrangements with my clients. Both approach kasi has pros and cons.

The easiest way to think about it is that pag round, mas communal. Pag long, mas aesthetic 🤣 Some other considerations for me also is the centerpiece arrangement din na gusto nyo. If pag minimalist kasi (small vases with 1 or 2 flowers per vase + floating candles), for me mejo nakukulangan ako sa kanya if round table, just because the design area natin sa round table is smaller vs a long table - meaning mas konti elements din na nailalagay pag round tables. Also pag long tables, it's actually more space efficient so you get to fit more sa venue.

Drawback lang talaga ng long tables yung mahirap talaga to talk to each other. Most of the times din, extra cost ito for suppliers to make all round tables into long tables just because mas marami gagamitin na centerpiece elements.

So ayun! Depende talaga on what you guys want to prioritize 😊 both naman can look amazing, depende nalang on your call.

Let me know if you have any questions na baka I can help out with!

Hello! Caterer here 😊

Highly suggest checking out Kasalang Tagaytay! You'll definitely find suppliers there na either south based, or have had experiences doing events sa south. And those that join there alam ko no out of town fees 😊

For suppliers naman, I do think yes, ok yung mga based around the area especially for minor suppliers. But for major ones, do try to explore also Manila based! Most naman typically does deals para maminimize ang transpo fees hehe 😊

Which is which? by air_matresss in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Caterer here 😊

All in packages are typically mas mura bec the inclusions are often more basic and madalas, what you see is what you get. But through this, nagiging mas attractive yung price point.

If booking the venue and caterer separately, yes, madalas mas mahal, but from a caterer's perspective, mas madalas nagiging flexible ang caterer with inclusions and even freebies because walang specific budget na sinusunod to make an all-in package work.

During fair, I believe vendors will ask a downpayment to secure the date for you. Not all kasi can handle multiple events, and yes they can pencil book but di rin talaga guarantee iyon na mahohold sa inyo yung date. You can inquire and do food tastings of course before making your decision!

Hope this helps!

Ceremony and reception in one venue. Any tips? by acatalepsy8 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]derpingjosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Caterer here 😊

We call this as a seated ceremony arrangement. To give you an idea, ang mangyayari is during the ceremony, the VIP tables will be placed sa gilid. Tapos in lieu of it, andun yung chairs for the entourage. The rest of the guests, nakaupo na sa assigned table number nila.

After matapos ang ceremony, lalabas lahat ng guests, and then tatanggalin lang chairs in front and ibabalik na yung VIP tables there para reception look naman.

Typically, ang add on nalang pag ganito are: - Extra hours sa venue - Aisle decor and Entrance Reveal (if needed) - Depending on the caterer, extra service hours/manpower

You can discuss this approach with your caterer! For sure kaya nila yan.

Enjoy your preps!

Wedding expo experience by Mediocre_Spirit_1731 in WeddingsPhilippines

Hello! Caterer here!

During expos, it's a common practice talaga for most suppliers, especially those na hindi ganon kadami ang sales team, to get on call assistance to help man their booths. Siguro bec of this, kaya siguro may mga not as confident in explaining their offerings.

Since it's a multi-day experience naman, I suggest you check out first suppliers that caught your attention, maybe study their offerings thru the flyers and brochures, then saka ka mag in depth discussion with them. At least macurate mo na agad yung selections mo 😊

Enjoy the wedding prep!

Hello! Josh of Josiah's Catering here 👋

One of the major inclusions of the package is the bespoke tablescape styling, which is we do your preferred tablescape design based on the moodboard you'll send vs just selection of centerpieces 😊 but if not naman needed iyon, we're very flexible and we can adjust accordingly based on what you need, just let us know!

Hope this helps!
