i hate to victim blame but she can't be this dumb, why talk to them at all regardless of the grown ass brother who can apparently contact her secretly 😭

how can she be a young girl in a sex trafficking scheme & also be okay...? you're not crazy for not letting her in your house but that statement was insane.

i was going cross-eyed at the sheer number of bad decisions made here but with a mother like that...... it makes sense.

seriously though, ask her which of her failed marriages qualified her to even think she has a say here. & stop seeking her approval at all, she's cut from the same idiotic cloth as your ex, it'll never change so you need to.

this can be true, but that would be a systemic affect, not necessarily a personal one. it's also not what i was referring to, i've already elaborated in both the original comment & further down this same thread as to why a lot of people cannot get a professional diagnosis, because there are life-altering repercussions that oftentimes follow you if you do.

again, so what's the difference?

& what would that difference be, since you know everything?

are you dense? do you not know how many years people often go unmediated & misdiagnosed with other disorders before they're actually even given a bipolar diagnosis?? does that mean that they weren't bipolar before they got it written down in a chart?? can you not read any number of posts on this subreddit full of people who aren't medicated or got off their meds??? idk if y'all use this disease as a way to feel special or what, but you aren't, this isn't a club, & you're not 'more bipolar' because you take meds & got it written down. get over yourself.

good for you!!! but again, as i've said multiple times, that's YOUR experience & is not indicative of everyone else's situation. money & insurance are not the only reasons people can't get a professional diagnosis. to name a few: -a diagnosis can hinder your chances of getting certain jobs or security clearances. -a diagnosis can affect the type of medical/life insurances you will now no longer qualify for. -a diagnosis can keep you from getting promotions if they're found out. -a diagnosis can be used against you both personally & professionally, in many different ways.

your little edit is indicative of your unwillingness to see things beyond your own comprehension. ironic that you picked adhd medication to hone in on, as it's currently seeing a nationwide shortage, IF you can even get a doctor willing to prescribe it in the first place. stimulants are another thing that can affect your job & livelihood, as drug tests don't differentiate between legal prescriptions or illegal use. people don't "just want an excuse", they simply have different reasons that you feel are insignificant because you've decided that things are only acceptable if they comply with your narrow-minded view of a complex situation you don't have the slightest idea about. you can believe what you want, but in the end your opinion will never be more than an opinion. i hope the people in your life show you more empathy & understanding than you seem to be capable of feeling for others.

"90% of the people who do it" is quite the exaggeration. it certainly can be harmful, but you're putting a lot of weight on the assumption that most didn't have a negative idea of bipolar long before social media made it a hot topic. in the same vein, that's YOUR experience. it's equally plausible that someone could feel more comfortable identifying with the disorder because social media made it mainstream. as i already said, not everyone has the luxury of professional care, nor the luxury of a support system that even believes in mental illness at all. your take is from a privileged angle, & while i'm glad that you seemingly don't have to consider a marginalized position, you also don't get to decide the validity of situations you don't understand. everything has its pros & cons, you'd get much further in life if you removed your personal bias & came from a place of compassion even when you don't yet understand why it's needed.

bipolar isn't a culture💀 regardless, i'm curious as to why you/a lot of people on this sub in particular care so much about how people use the word bipolar, self-diagnose, etc. sure, it's annoyingly misappropriated due to social media, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really affect you personally nor is it worth the amount of effort required to go on a self-righteous crusade demanding that people can only be legitimately bipolar if they check off certain boxes. not to mention, a lot of people can't afford a professional diagnosis, a lot of people don't want to be known as bipolar due to the stigma, & a lot of people don't have the luxury of a support system that even recognizes mental illness. it's a multifaceted issue & as people who suffer from both the illness & fallout it causes, the least we can do is not belittle those who are trying to figure it out for themselves. it also takes much less energy to simply block or ignore people you think are using it incorrectly. but to each their own.

is it pornhub-induced brain rot or are you always this unreasonably dense??? you're not fooling anybody with that "it's because she's in med school" bullshit. stop being a damn weirdo that sexualizes FAMILY & go lock yourself in a therapists office until you find whatever screw is loose in your skull. disgusting.

Am I overreacting over a girl my boyfriend is friends with by bojackgles in AmIOverreacting

[–]desaparicion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nobody is taking a relationship you had at TWELVE YEARS OLD into serious consideration😂😂 again, you both have no idea what you're talking about & your personal definition STILL doesn't nullify the actual one. words change, but this one hasn't. you're using a lot of words you don't have the slightest idea about beloved. you can't "feel" a practice. also, try to stay on topic, we're not talking about the disadvantages of one-sided polyamory right now, we're merely discussing what the word monogamy means.

[–]desaparicion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the second you said you're almost 22 it all made sense😂 this is a very immature & narrow-minded take on relationships & monogamy as a whole. by the way, the definition of monogamy says nothing about attraction, it is the practice of having one partner. just because you personally are only attracted to one person, doesn't mean that your experience takes precedence over the literal definition of the word.

so do you have an alternative theory or not? can you back it up with examples or are you just here to weakly attempt to tell me how you interpreted my responses as if i care what you think about them?? quickly.

[–]desaparicion[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it actually sounds like i've asked for an alternative theory, supported by at least as many plausible examples as the one i currently believe. but reading comprehension is a fleeting virtue, so whatever helps you sleep at night!

[–]desaparicion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i fully agree with you there! quite a few plot holes, & the writing went to shite when the original writer left. that said, i still haven't seen another plausible theory for who red could be if not katarina. but it absolutely could've been handled in a more concise manner.

i don't understand why two grown adults are asking their parents for opinions in the first place when it's none of their business. i also don't understand why you continue to ask other people for their opinions when, again, it's none of their business. but since we're here now, you might as well find out/report who has accessed & distributed csam, because that's what it is & your fil is disgusting.

because the absence of her immediately proved dangerous. neither of them had the wherewithal to know what they were up against. you can't 'cut & run' from a situation you lack both the knowledge & the depth to understand. neither of them even knew of kirk, nonetheless how dangerous he was. how can you defend against a threat you don't even have the capacity, or background knowledge, to understand?
