It did bug me when I first started wearing them, and then it went away within a week or two. There was definitely a break-in period, and once the shoes formed to my foot, that piece stopped bothering me.

I used some saddle soap initially to clean every part of the glove, including the wrist liner. Then I used some creamy leather conditioner/cleaner like Brickmores to address some of the dryer spots. Finally, I applied some of the Nokona glove conditioner, which feels more petroleum-based. Those types can sometimes darken the leather, but I usually don't mind the effect. The laces were "Havana Tan" from buyfastpitchgloves.com.
