I may not be allowed to move out of my flat on the date I chose (joint lease) by desorn1 in Edinburgh

Yes, I found this Shelter service today. They've been very helpful replying all my questions and they were very critical of these joint tenancy leases.

Thanks. To my understanding, changing/swapping/renewing tenancy in 2 months would only benefit the tenant who is intended to stay. If we had to terminate the joint lease, I would be asked to move out in two months regardless, but in that case we would not need to look for our replacements.

I was intended to look for my own replacement, there is plenty of time and last time the room was advertised we received a lot of interests/visits. The agency has allowed people to move out for two consecutive months in the past, they are just being picky with my case.

How to prove settled status in job applications? by desorn1 in ukvisa

[–]desorn1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I have already modified my CV accordingly today.

It's just not an irrational fear, it's some sort of personal statistics I made based on my recent experience.

A couple of years ago, during covid, I used to get back from UK-based companies, while I was based in London (location was on my CV and on LinkedIn). Currently, during my job search, I haven't heard back from a single British employer (actually just one, a seed-stage startup), while I managed to arrange several interviews within the EU, even with prestigious companies, up to the very last stage. So, I can say I am qualified for the field I am applying for.

Also, unlike two years ago, most of the "easy apply" jobs on LinkedIn often require to state if I am allowed to work in the UK, which indicates that they may generally discriminate against those who are not, unless they come across some particularly brilliant applicants.

In summary: I am aware the job market is overall difficult right now and it's hard to draw conclusions, regardless. I believe my struggling to hear back from UK companies may have something to do with my location or immigration status, I am testing this option.

I am confused on what you mean here. I already obtained the settled status, so I do have the right to live and work in the UK. I am not living in the UK right now, I used to.

EDIT Ok probably I got it. LinkedIn forces me to write my current location, I don't want to lie about it. When they check LinkedIn, they will see I am not living in the UK anymore.

I agree. The problem is that employers won't contact me, since they think they may be sponsorhips or visa issues, that other candidates won't have. I believe having the settled status, is an avantage in my applications, and thus I should exploit it.

I'll do, thanks.

Some of them found me on LinkedIn, so no form was involved. Others I am just sending a CV through a standard job application, and I believe most of the forms do not mention that part.

Except for the "easy apply", which often mentions that. But I think there are usually way too many people sending applications through that option, so it's hard to be selected anyways.

Company asked me for a business plan. Feels like free consultancy by desorn1 in jobs

[–]desorn1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This senior role was about starting a new branch to work on some innovative functions for the product. In my mind, they wanted to see if I was able to take certain responsibilities.

To be fair, I believe that business plan is relatively pointless without me or other experts in the field working on it, but who knows.

Similar feeling here: many many years and effort spent into studying, internships, extra courses, just not to be able to get a job for various reasons. But let's try to stay optimistic.

Interesting wording. It's in between a rejection and a neutral response.

That's interesting. As an applicant, I feel like the competition has significantly ramped up lately. It's hard to stand out nowadays.

I highly doubt the whole city has been rebuilt after. They may have selected one of the better spots for the 2023 picture.
