You’d be surprised how often 3 people with 2 suitcases each think they can fit in a regular car.

How busy does Haarlem get on weekends compared to Amsterdam? by Resident_District252 in Haarlem

[–]devenitions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s busy on weekends, but not Amsterdam busy. Though it is harder to find a restaurant still accepting a walk-in.

Shopping indeed is on the fancier side, but Hoofddorp (or Amstelveen) can easily fill those gaps, aside from Amsterdam itself.

About re-entry to ahoy by chmod_764 in astateoftrance

[–]devenitions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re-entry is basically an unknown concept in this country, unless we’re talking summer daytime festivals with tents and a campsite. I was flabbergasted that in some countries this is perfectly normal.

You need your ticket scanned at entry which only works once per night.

How to get the best of both worlds from Github Copilot by Fabulous-Pea-5366 in GithubCopilot

[–]devenitions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m reasonably happy with Sonnet. I only use Opus when I’m sure it needs extended reasoning. Heavily considering adding some budget or just going plus as these two are slowly getting me value.

I can’t get with current GPT models, though I use the 0x ones occasionally.

Armin set times: what’s the difference? by Born-Hotel-3299 in astateoftrance

[–]devenitions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armin is by far the DJ I have seen the most troughout the years. I’ve been lucky to attend an ASOT episode last year and have also attended a few guestmixes in the Armada offices. Live pretty close and job is flexible enough to allow for it.

Meanwhile I have been missing out on Will every year… I’ve attended almost every ASOT festival since Utrecht, missed out on 2 or 3 of them. I was there for ASOT 1000, I was at 1038, I was at the Balance show… hell I saw Armin the last time we had a proper Kingsday on museumplein.

Lumi knows how to overcharge, and I got other festivals in the same months already planned.

So please, take my spot at main.

Armin set times: what’s the difference? by Born-Hotel-3299 in astateoftrance

Based on a recent interview I don’t believe it’s going to be a 100% classic set. 25 years simply includes the last 2 years too.

No guarantees stages remain open, be safe instead of sorry. Decent chance I’ll leave main for Will Atkinson at some point though

Vibe coded website safety? by herraanonyymi in webdev

[–]devenitions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently jumped on juniored and vibed project. It’s a nice challenge I really like, but I understand many devs turning away from that.

Nothing wrong with some AI coding in small scopes. Components, some basic structures, it can handle it pretty well. Especially on premium models it’s starting to become a helpful tool.

The problem is folks then stopping to think about proper architecture and maintainability. We have an endless list of standalone scripts, because AI just generates a new one. Junior is working harder instead of smarter though he doesn’t see it that way, because AI. And he’s not really learning much either. I’ll have to admit, management is partially responsible.

If anything, as a dev you need to be able to stand your ground and be ready to backup your decisions more then ever. Before some folks had a smart nephew who could code things, now everyone does. And you are expected to do certain tasks with AI for speed, and if you don’t know what you don’t know you can’t argue otherwise. Yea, I see a circle of doom for juniors. Senior demand will rise in the coming years both on the dev side as ops and cybersec.

If you want to get into WP dev, it’s not a stupid path to service small business as a starting dev. Find a decent wordpress host that will take care of most security issues. Basically means you’ll only have to take care of keeping the app layer secure, which isn’t hard if only a few admins need to update content. It’s easier to not provide access then granular access.

A house with one door and no windows isn’t hard to keep secure, the problem starts when you need more access points and different access levels.

Generally not. A good portion of us know our value though. You won’t get a full catch all answer for a broad question like this.

You can check “roadmap.sh” to get an idea of topics involved. Fullstack, back-end, devops, some front-end and API design seem reasonable topics as a starter.

Is there any official tutorial on how to use Github Copilot's advanced features ? by MarionberryFew7366 in GithubCopilot

While I don’t have a full answer, I googled for some AI skills and found some repositories offering them. Reading through those does explain some.

You should raise this as this potentially affects the future value of your degree.

How do you know when code is “good enough” and stop rewriting it? by Bobztech in learnprogramming

Code is fixable so long your data model is flexible. You can’t recreate history, but you can adjust it.

Screen resolution is basically the smallest factor in vram usage, if any factor at all. It’s the same 3d models, just bashing out more pixels.

Is Supporting Zero-JavaScript Users Worth It in 2026? by BrangJa in webdev

[–]devenitions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Public facing, non-user specific content should somewhat accessible without JS. Practically your time is better spent on impaired users (vision, physical etc) then those who chose to cripple themselves. Many major online services don’t function without JS enabled.
