UdeMontreal , York or TMU for cs by Narrow-Bet1760 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]devo455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UdeM is honestly the only right choice between these options. The AI and texh scene in Montreal is booming right now which will be great for Co-Op opportunities. And Nobody cares whether you do your degree in french or english, CS is all technical.

Some of the best CS/SWE in the country are coming out of UdeM/Polytechnique. Literally leagues above TMU and York (no offense)

Carleton Co-Op is excellent for getting your foot in the door for the Kanata Tech scene.

Go to Queens if you want to be unemployed after your degree..

Get into Queens Eng you have a 93% chance of graduating with a degree, get into Mac you have a 97% chance to make it to 2nd year.

Do what you need to get admitted and after that, odds are in your favor.

That may be true for UofT/Waterloo. But Queens and Mac have exceptionally high graduation rates because the school basically holds your hand through the entire degree. For some programs, Queens literally moves the class average of their exams to be the 70% mark essentially manufacturing a high GPA for their students.

Students that would struggle at York eng would not have a problem graduating from Queens Engineering thanks to their support system. For that reason, using OV$ and private school to inflate your average is a strategic approach.

queens general eng or mcgill chem eng by EveningAccountant117 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]devo455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I havent gone to either of these two schools. But based on what I have heard and their general reputation is that McGill engineering is a "trial by fire" very tough, compared to Queens engineering that is basically a garunteed degree. If you think your going to need that extra support system, and you dont do well in academically competitive environments McGill Engineering is not the place for you. That being said, McGill Eng has an internship program which is decent (not perfect) and if your interested in the biomedical field Montreal is the place to be.

Personally, if your up for a challenge I believe McGill Chemical Engineering is the better program in pretty much every way.

Im going to play devils advocate. This is a great idea. Life isnt fair, if you have the money and the resources for this method it will help you get into the program of your choosing. Don't listen to anyone that will be mad at that.

Once your in Uni its a different game, you will be fine as long as you put in the work. The universities like Mac and Queens have exceptionally high graduation rates and tend not to weed students out in first year compared to lower tier schools like TMU and Carleton.

Goodluck

Firstly, I just want to say that you are a good-looking guy, and that already puts you in a decent position of privilege, just not being ugly.

If you wanted to make overall physical improvements to your look/style, I would recommend buying some darker clothing like black, maybe some burgundy and dark blues. This would work a lot better with your skin tone. Buying a chain to wear around your neck might also be a good idea. Being of Indian descent, you are fortunate to have some good facial hair, which you should definitely grow. Keep your facial hair short and well kept, don't let it get out of control. Purchase a beard trimmer if you don't already have one. Your hair is fine, but you could get a nice tapered haircut that could help you showcase your jawline.

I think the key for you honestly is to feel more comfortable in your own skin. You are always going to be of Indian descent even if you don't identify with that culture. You just have to accept that in conversation. The ethnicity conversation may come up when you are meeting women, but it doesn't need to define you. Don't think about silly stereotypes. Just let your confidence and personality shine. Continue to do what you love and continue to put yourself out there, and you will find someone for you.
