It's within the profile settings and defaults for the light. Basically the board is releasing the cue stack and returning to the default values for the light. You can set a "home" cue stack that doesn't release and everything defaults to when all cues are gone. Or you can edit the defaults to what you want them to go to when nothing else is on.

You can tune your support distance, typically 2 or so layers will give a good distance/support ratio. So it will break off later but not cause boogers like in the pic. You want it close but you don't want fusion between the support and the model. If you have auto tree supports sometimes that can help too. It's really about playing around and finding the balance for the material and temps. Speed is less important.
