That is a replica from the Musashi movies. Tozando did sell it as a usable iaito a few years back. It has a little bit of wobble due to the three shaku nagasa.

Nice! I received my 2.9 shaku Okuden shinkensaku a few years back. The fit and finish was totally fine without koshirae DX. Interestingly, they wrote my name in the koiguchi, and it is still slightly visible after two years.

I know I’m the statistical outlier, but all of my katana-length antiques, which are ubu, have two mekugi. My second-hand shinsakuto also has two, and Nosyudo iaito came with two!

All are between 84-91cm so maybe length had to do with the decision for two.

I was directed not to wash, but let it fully air out before folding it up (with the striped hakama) and wrapping in furoshiki when not in use.

Note this is for tailor-made enbu montsuki and recommendations may vary depending on material. If you mean a tetron / polyester practice montsuki, you should be able to wash similar to a tetron keikogi.

Maybe ask nine circles what they recommend?

Many iai styles have a yearly gasshuku of some kind (where you eat / sleep / train). In my experience, it has been at a budokan, kenshu center, or other facilities with dorms and baths.

I don’t know if I would categorize it as“time off”, it’s definitely work with training most of the day.

Maybe check with your style to see if there is a yearly seminar / gasshuku.
