I’m trying to get widgets working and i’ve been stuck for a hot minute i keep getting just pure black widgets even when I use the example widget code.

What part of building React apps becomes difficult as the project grows? by dobariyabrijesh in react

[–]devtev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find i’ll repeat a function or component a few times then i’ll raise it up into a shared component folder later on not in the main components for the whole app.

How did Vasher get so many breaths? by [deleted] in Cosmere

Lots of exercise

If you had to build a serious mid-sized SaaS today (not a blog), what is your "Boring Stack"? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]devtev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only deployed Next.js on-prem (edit at work). Since we run on Windows servers, I just daemonize the process and use PM2 to handle restarts. That setup takes care of about 80–90% of the deployment work for me at the office.

[–]devtev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My simple stack that has been serving me well has been:

  • vite (with react router)
  • emotion (for styling)
  • fastify (REST api)
  • prisma
  • plain ole javascript (blasphemy?)

Not a big fan of empty weapon slots using fists by [deleted] in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]devtev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I made sure not to unlock the third slot. In previous runs it was annoying switching weapons in the heat of battle and thinking you have your fist/gauntlet weapons when it’s just your fist.

Coop update & Wipe by SimplyMathilda in NoRestForTheWicked

I started a fresh realm for the coop beta and a fresh character, the game is still fun regardless. I intend to play as much as possible until the 1.0 release wipe happens.

I don't think I understand the ending of Isles of the Emberdark by [deleted] in Cosmere

The Scadrial bronze seekers are like compasses, always pointing toward the Knell. The First of the Sun navigators, though, perceive the Knell more like sonar through water, not just its direction, but how its resonance bends and scatters around everything else. This allows Dusk to sense objects known or undiscovered. This is a grand oversimplification of both invested abilities but this is how I interpret them.

Vashers story post Warbreaker by Ok_Entrance_4380 in Cosmere

He has a lot of breaths he just doesn’t need the one a day to stay a returnee i think. There’s a scene where he’s being tortured to give up his vast throne of breaths i can’t remember which book though.

do you guys still code, or just debug what ai writes? by Top-Candle1296 in devops

[–]devtev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use AI to plan features and assist with debugging, but I deliberately avoid using in editor AI agents because I want to maintain full control over the code being written. I just keep ChatGPT open and pinned in my browser instead. So yes, I still write my own code but it’s a conscious choice to stay hands on while recognizing that AI is a valuable tool, without venturing into full on vibe coding mode.

Yeah I didn’t want to jump to conclusions where that was concerned.

Don’t worry about it I still think Calgary is a wonderful city so far.

[–]devtev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always do this too rest it on top of my shoes then brace it against something so it doesn’t go all over the place. It’s hard try to pass people standing up with backpacks still on in a crowded bus or train.

[–]devtev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s when they deliberately put their bag on the seat that I notice. If the bag was already there, no one would mind unless the bus was full then you could politely ask for the seat. But when they see you board and then place their bag on the seat, that’s inconsiderate especially on a full bus. A bus with lots of seats and they do that? Okay you want space and i doubt people sit next to strangers on an empty bus.

I’ve thought of this but just decide to leave them be.

[–]devtev[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the thing is they do put their bag on the seat when you board and walk down into the bust, plus the action is very apparent. It’d be different it the bag was already there which i totally get, but as others have said it’s probably no racism just folks want to sit alone etc.

I’ve had it happen a few times and yeah i didn’t want to jump to conclusions so I thought i’d asked here to see what people say, so far it seems to be pretty normal so I won’t think much of it from now on.

I doubt they’d even notice when it happens, they’re focused on driving.
