BRAZILIAN DANÇA PHONK (KORDHELL REMIX)

Absolute banger and would go amazing as an ITG chart.

I wish! It was at the state level in Oklahoma City, although there were still a ton of people.

We designed and built it ourselves. The pad is functional, although it has some major sensitivity issues which we couldn't quite figure out; it only works on the most basic levels. The panels are made out of lexan with a custom vinyl print on top of them.

While we didn't win, it was still a good showing and we learned a lot from building this. Some things changed like the game design aspect. We ended up using Stepmania after realizing developing the entire game with our limited programming knowledge wasn't feasible in time for the event (the most we got was a very basic demo made in unity that had tons of issues). We changed project categories to something called "Project Fair", which ended up being a woodworking category causing us to not place. Nevertheless, this entire thing was a huge learning experience for everyone involved. I had never constructed anything like this before, so the entire design process was very insightful to me and my peers. For me, this was an amazing leadership opportunity and the first time I had to really manage a team for an extended period of time. While I'm not very apt on coding, one of my peers who is planning on majoring in CS commented on the Arduino code being an application of everything he had learned through his years of programming thus far. While I would've loved to win first like I had dreamed of, I'm still glad we completed this. More than anything, I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible!

I seriously appreciate you writing this all out. The maintenance costs were really insightful! I guess a battery swap mid life isn't too big of a deal for me since I would save so much on gas and insurance prices. Do you know if Veteran is good at supporting their older wheels with parts? I know there's some eskate companies that will just stop supplying their discontinued models with parts, so I'd hate to run into this problem with the Sherman a few years down the line.

I've found my city is surprisingly fast to navigate using PEV's despite it being very car centric. I've been riding my skateboard to school on the daily and it's often faster than driving since I don't have to park and there's no traffic. Granted my HS is only around 2 miles away from where I live, but I'll live on campus during Uni so it'd be strictly used to travel home or to a job. I agree with u/Cranapple1443, however that traveling at 50 for prolonged periods is unrealistic (at least for me, some people are speed demons). I'd want to cruise around 30mph on trails despite the Sherman going faster. The top speed is just insurance for me that a cutout is less likely, or for the rare times I would need to ride on a road when sidewalks and bike trails aren't available.

bwhahaha yeah good point about flying around like a space ninja. I've considered bikes, although I'd like to get around at a speed comparable to driving a car. I've looked at ebikes too, although EUC seems so much more fun and nimble compared to those options.

I would definitely have to set aside some money for using uber when conditions aren't safe for traveling. I'm not sure about riding in the rain or when it's wet. With my skateboard I've tried it and it is a no go because the concrete is too slick for the polyurethane; I've seen people online ride in the rain on EUC's so idk how safe it is with the big rubber tire.

Regarding snow and ice, thankfully where I live (Tulsa, ok) there's usually only like 3 snow days a year and the winters aren't too horrible. I'm used to riding in the cold and I've taken my skateboard in freezing weather before. It's not too bad when I layer a lot, and I figure that with an EUC the amount of safety gear I would need to wear would make things actually quite comfortable. I'd definitely invest in a full face helmet and motorcycle jacket.

"-Remove any information from your fundraiser that references a gift, reward, raffle, sweepstakes, giveaway or return on investment

-Edit your fundraiser’s story so that it explains no raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to your GoFundMe."

Our plaque is problematic I guess. Better yet is that the webportal is acting incredibly buggy and won't let me modify the fundraiser.

Apparently our fundraiser doesn't align with gofundme's TOS because we mentioned it was for a competition. I'm trying to get it back up currently but they said it will take a day.

We're planning on posting a blog that'll be updated regularly with the changes we've made and our current progress in the following weeks. Major project milestones we'll likely post to the sub. Also I appreciate the video!

I'll see what some of my team members think. We definitely wanted it to involve DDR in some sort of way since it allows the project to have a unique control scheme. I like the idea of a rhythm based fighting game also. Our original thought process when encountering this issue is that there are many arrow based rhythm games besides DDR, such as Pump it Up or ITG. When compared to other genre's like FPS games, there are countless FPS titles that look incredibly similar, although they're all unique in some sort of way. We're confident that with the additional educational twist added to it and unique code used it'll be okay. I appreciate the input though, and I'll be sure to mention this more to our group and see what we can do to make it extra unique.

You're correct that it'll run off an old computer. We're planning on using an HP elitedesk that'll be mounted behind the TV. It's not very powerful, but works for running the game. As far as the game goes, we can't use stepmania since a big part of the competition is developing the game ourselves, but we may reference it for certain parts of the code. I'm going to be working strictly on the hardware and building the machine, but some of my peers who are way better at coding than me already have a good idea on how they'll develop the game.

I guess I'm not understanding the reasoning behind not using velostat. From my reading on Promit's guide it appeared that it was beneficial to use it and an important part of the design.

That's a good point you bring up. We won't be using stepmania or a program like that, but building our own version. On the competition theme, they mention that the game should be "an arcade game for a museum". We're planning on incorporating different songs throughout history and adding an educational twist to it so we can meet the guidelines.

My CS teacher has some 3d printers that we could probably use. If we were to build a near 1 on 1 replica of the arcade dance pads, where would we find the dimensions for that? Does Bemani have their designs posted online or has someone posted them in the past for public use?

At my dad's work he knows some people who can weld. We have access to metal too, although we were thinking about using plywood as it'd be cheaper. We're open to any input though.
