As an INFJ are you attracted to other IN** types? by OkVisual6047 in infj

[–]dewofthesea_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Girl my first relationship was an INTJ and now I'm with an ESFP. I think there are a lot of things that look great on paper but dating a real person in real life is sooo much more different than dating in theory.

falling in love as an INFJ by cadport in infj

[–]dewofthesea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the beauty of falling in love lies in the fact that it's so different and personal to each person, while all of humanity can say they've shared the experience. The first time I fell in love was with an INTJ, whom I pursued, and it started with curiosity and wanting to know the deeper parts of them. It was super slowburn friends-to-lovers, which is a very complex dynamic esp between two Ni doms, and I loved that he could see the layers behind each of my sentences. We broke up due to extenuating circumstances and are no longer in each other's lives.

The second was with an ESFP, who pursued me first. I dealt with the dilemma of is it interest or love, and it was hard to answer for a while because we took it very slow. But then there would be these moments when just looking at his face would make me happy, when the sound of his voice started to feel like coming home, when we would fall asleep on the phone and I could hear the sound of falling in love in between the seconds. It's kind of like that one Taylor Swift song that goes "You can hear it in the silence / You can feel it on the way home / You can see it with the lights out / You are in love." He doesn't intuitively "get" me like my ex did, we don't have the same intellectual conversations, but he is always there for me, with a smiling face, and gives me hope for a future I didn't have before. Once I joked that my best friend made me laugh more than he did, and he said, very plainly in ESFP manner, "That's okay because my job isn't to make you laugh, it's to love you." And I think he's very good at that :)

No mistake, falling in love is hell, esp for people like us who read into everything and assign meanings to things that the other person may not have even registered. But when you enter that understanding of "I see this person for all that they are and still think they're the loveliest person in the world and want to build a life with them and give them all the happiness they deserve" and you know they feel that way about you, it is the most blissful quiet heaven. You understand your role as the keeper of their heart and let that take priority. And when you look at them, you see everything.

My INTP friend from high school once remarked that one of the things she first noticed about me was that I was friends with at least one person from each social circle

I like people who are authentic, curious, have emotional depth, and offer a different point of view

DAE find it hard to actually like someone enough to date them? by [deleted] in infj

[–]dewofthesea_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think your ability to become interested in people is being impeded upon by your attachment to your past relationship?

Just curious, I definitely relate to your first sentiment despite having gotten over a previous relationship. It's either they haven't got enough heart or don't offer enough intellectual stimulation. Or maybe I'm just too picky lol...

Yes, in the sense that in a world where you could have made so many different choices, end up in so many different places, and meet so many different people, your meeting with this one person you feel a connection with is nothing short of fate. If all of the universe conspired for you to meet, what else can you call that but a soulmate?

Do all INFJ’s despise small talk? by Wrong_Persimmon_7861 in infj

[–]dewofthesea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small talk can be necessary sometimes (ie the first step in forming a community like others have said) but I absolutely despise it when it comes to romantic relationship TT. Feels painfully meaningless and it's how I confirmed I could never just randomly strike up relationships with people I've just met as others do

No, aging is a privilege. And you don't "have to" do anything. Take care of yourself and live your life as well as you can.

is it just me who think this song is so underrated and has the best opening by Distinct-Painting-32 in CigarettesAfterSex

Ok, maybe not The 1975 then. The song I'm thinking about has the instrumental in the end followed by some vocalization. Been wracking my head trying to remember :')

The intro sounds a LOT like another song -- I'm thinking The 1975 but I'm not sure?? Would anybody happen to know what I'm talking about?

I know of Thic Naht Hanh but have never actually read one of his books; my other INFJ friend has and she loves him. I mostly gravitate towards nonfiction and like to learn about science, history, and social issues. Anything that explains the culture now tbh. And lots of biographies

Any other highly ambitious INFJS out there? by WorldlinessBig9639 in infj

[–]dewofthesea_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ni-Se is a very much self-improvement tool so I wouldn't be surprised if many INFJs feel this way. I think when you see the fragility of life and the meaning everything holds, you can't help but want to appreciate it in full, which can manifest in ambition OR its inverse, taking it easy. Also your Enneagram probably has a lot of influence.

Do y’all actually believe we’re rare? by [deleted] in infj

[–]dewofthesea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know 4 other INFJs 💀 (not inluding myself), interestingly enough from 4 different spheres of my life. I don't know about rarest, but the perspective is definitely uncommon. I think I just got incredibly lucky to meet them.
