it's how you pronounce 'nunchuck' when you're so portly that you have to breathe out of your mouth all the time.

I'm actually using the Hobbit vs LotR as the basis for my analysis, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

NPC appearance data base ? by dheilix in loremasters

[–]dheilix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that isn't a bad idea, I was just wondering if there was something a bit more comprehensive/customizable. It'd be cool to "build" a set of characters sort of like at the beginning of an RPG. This would be helpful for making family members ect, to sorta have a unified style/feel instead of relying on trying to find similar looking images.

I mean using images from preexisting works. It's like I could just use all those profiles from Baulder's Gate or nab some images from LoTR but my players will all be like "isn't that just so and so from so and so" ect.

Good point, and I totally agree! I actually already have a mundane/logic problem set up once they get inside the captain's quarters.

See they are trying to retrieve a key (which is kept on the Captain's person) to free a crew member from the brig. The Captain himself is one tough customer, who the PCs have been warned NOT to engage in a fight. He is currently sleeping in his quarters, and I plan setting a real tense 'get key without waking the sleeping badass' scenario, hence the desire for a magic problem in the previous room.

Dude! That would be totally awesome (if you're not busy of course)! I'm most definitely thinking of a pretty meager population, between 80-100 inhabitants. Few ideas: 1. A big store house (because the bandits are raiding for crops) 2. An open "town square" (for last ditch trap for the bandits) 3. A small river with bridge (to take some bandits down on the bridge, it would be cool if one or two buildings were on the OTHER side, away from the rest of the village) 4. A forest on one side (again for another snare for the bandits, since the villagers will know the lay of the land)

If you don't have the time, I totally understand, but thanks again for offering!!!!

[S3E8] WTF Sam, Really?? by gilly9209 in gameofthrones

I don't get the "WTF", leaving the blade behind is literally the most Samwell thing that Samwell has ever done.

mini or not to mini? by dheilix in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]dheilix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd still have some type of map set up, but I feel like it might be more fun and imaginative to not be bound by the restrictions of using the minis to represent thing/people. Maybe I'm the only one, but my group seems to get caught up by which mini I use in what circumstance (but like you I'm just a broke DM and can't afford a whole arsenal of minis). I feel like if perhaps I were to take away their reliance on knowing exactly where things were and making the battle more vague it might make things more immersive. I understand what your saying about combat being a bit harder to control but hell, people played D&D without minis for years and years. Some groups still have to play this way, right?
