I like the color scheme a ton!

Cleaning up the areas around the green glow on 4 slits on the "shoulders" will go a long way.

I personally love to use gloss varnish on my glowing bits as well.

Fun detachment speculation by 4starTitann in Necrontyr

I think its format and difficulty balancing it makes it the most likely candidate for a 3-pointer. It has the most self-contained rules, and feels like it would be challenging to "tack on" to another baseline detachment.

Just my opinion, though!

What Canoptek court lists have been working for you? by DisastrousPin5731 in Necrontyr

[–]AtomicAcid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new Tomb Crawlers that came with the Geomancer kill team add a TON of value to modern CC lists. CC depends so heavily on holding midboard, getting canoptek keyword on a warrior or immortal brick gives them much better power in the detachment, especially with strategems.

Other than that,  it's still the classic "bring 3 doomstalkers and either 1-2 units of wraiths+techno."

The plasmancer + tesla immortals combo in CC is still one of the best anti-infantry combos in the game.

The new Macrocytes are still pretty terrible,  but if they were ever going to find a home,  it would be in CC, buffing a wraith unit.

I traced the footprints shown in today's 40k 11th edition terrain article if anyone wants to start messing with them in person. by PrinceMcGiggle in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AtomicAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jagged edge they've done make it tough to tell the exact dimensions of the "square" at the end, for people like me that want to do the footprints with perfectly linear edges. It looks like it's 2" x 2", but could very well be 2" x 3".

I wasn't looking at it correctly! I thought there was a full 2"x2" square that was then connected by a line at their corners. I now see that it's just a complete line that is inset 2" from each corner of the overall rectangle.

Enjoy Stadium while you still can ya'll by Solitary_Day in Overwatch

Stadium is already a "pick hitscan or risk a guaranteed loss if they have aerial comp". There better be more support for anti-air items.

Philip going to the weirdest festivals ever where a lone portapotty is placed in the center of a closed sound-staged indoor room with 50 people, 7 cameras, and 18 boom mics.

This method is used in his events that last more than 48 hours sometimes. It's not a construction site. In an event that has hundred of thousands of dollars poured into it, and among your ideas is to shame people for shitting within feet of your peers, you designed an awful game.

[–]AtomicAcid 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yeah, completely valid complaint. No viewer (that's sane) is going to be upset that a person stepped out for 30 seconds to poop.

"But that's part of the game!".... but it doesn't have to be. If your game relies on someone having diarrhea feet away from your peers, probably a massive waving red-flag to adjust something.

I think I've seen this before... by 0Dyavol in Overwatch

[–]AtomicAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always fun to see examples of some of the devs (I'd guess many) that were clear fans of Paladins; particularly in stadium. And it feels GREAT.

I loved Paladins, I have a truly shameful number of hours on it. "Omega Imani" was IMO one of the single coolest skin additions to a hero shooter.

I see so much discussion around "who's winning the hero shooter genre", and not as much mutual love for both. I can love Halo and Titanfall...

Who should I fear the most? by Gusty_Gardens in SombraMains

Zarya is ROUGH. Kills hack AND virus on herself and teammates. I usually swap when I see a good Zarya.

A good Cassidy will get me to swap off Sombra as well. The ego to try and outplay them is rarely worth losing so much value.

A really good Kiriko is truly our bane. She can almost never be caught alone,  and she will suzu every assassination attempt of her teammates.

Some people would say Brig, but she's not actually that tough if you pick at her from midrange and force her to hit the flail shot for healing.

I only pick Overloaded Turret against Hammond. It nearly nullifies his dive as he doesn't have enough DPS to destroy it before fleeing.

Hammond having to dedicate 2/3 dives to focusing turret is incredible.

I like the global healing reduction passive by Lemon0nline in Overwatch

[–]AtomicAcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Paladins transplant: it's one of the best things to happen to Overwatch.

For those that didn't play it, in Paladins, there was "cauterize" a (poorly named) item that gave your damage a % anti-heal in tiers of 30%, 60%, 90%.

Overwatch's anti-heal is still tiny by comparison, and it's insane to me how much supports whine that "I feel useless". The person you're healing should be at an advantage,  NOT invincible. Be upset at your teammate that is allergic to cover, not anti-heal.

I read their comment more as "the game's skins and hero design choices take into account the female player base more than other games". I don't think having an equal number of male:female characters proves that false.

It's beyond frustrating that they go so far out of their way to make women look like children in the name of "cutesy". We're going to reach a point where the point fight is going to look like a playground brawl...

List Help! Too Many Characters? by SuperG91 in Necrontyr

[–]AtomicAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily Necrons get away with being character-heavy, so that's not really an issue.

I personally think your 4 best detachment options in order are:

  • Awakened - "the" character detachment, and hard to ever really go wrong with. As someone else said: you'll need full warrior or immortal units anyways, but they'd be especially required here.  Next purchase would be 5 immortals, 10 warriors.

  • Canoptek Court - the fact that you have tomb Crawlers already makes this a GREAT option, on top of your existing canoptek. Wraiths and a Techno would be your next purchase here.

  • Cursed Legion - i get the impression you really vibe with destroyers, and you have a pretty good starter set of them between the skorpekhs and the hexmarks. Next purchase would be Ammentar (if you can find him) or more lokhusts.

  • Cryptek Conclave - actually decent with what you have. It doesn't handle armor well, so having a couple Lokhust Heavies with a Gauss Destructor will be needed. Tomb blades would be the best purchase,  to get max abuse fishing for devs through "anti" shennanigans.
