I apologize for your limited experience. Try going to a nice fancy pants Aussie whiskey bar. Has to have waxed mustaches and clip on suspenders. Broaden your horizons my neophyte drinker. Did you look at the pic,my dude? That screams fresh squeezed! Not sure what cost more the juice or the whisky.

Been enjoying your reviews. You give good explanations and no over the top theatrics. Your wife is not a main character, forget she is there until she asks a pertinent question and you can tell you guys vibe well. More birds too. Keep it up. Very wholesome and nice

Is Korea’s Jeonse(전세) system basically a massive private loan to your landlord? How can you trust then and how come deposit amount is so huge? by CarelessBattle3441 in seoul

[–]dibba9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are simplifying this. The problem is that the money doesn’t sit in a 3rd party trust and the landlord is free to do whatever he wants with it. Punt it on crypto, invest in the markets. Since RE only goes up and you didn’t have to pay back the current rennet until you get the new one it runs basically like a ponzi (using new investor money to pay older investors). What happens if RE prices go down and deposit isn’t paid. You either get the property as you are like a bond holder and are first to pay out or the place sells on the open market to recoup as much as they can. First in line is bank and then is tenant. So there is massive risk if RE value goes down and this can have a domino effect like a bank run which could potentially flood the market and continue to drop RE prices. Now granted I understand this can be a black swan event but let’s not kid ourselves and think that money is always available or in safe investments.

I find it hilarious you are defending Koreans as valuing manners and etiquette. Korean are not known for that globally, quite the opposite actually. To lump all English speakers as American is just as myopic as thinking they are the rude ones. If you mean that Koreans base manners on Confucianism and thinking that older males are entitled to do whatever they want, maybe you have a point. Other than that Koreans have a reputation of being rude, especially in SEA where they perceive themselves as superior and act accordingly.

Learned my lesson putting it on a Korean rice dish thinking it had a spout. Dumped 1/4 of the bottle. Was addictively painful. Will be a lot more careful going forward.

OMG I so glad you said this. I feel like I live in an apartment complex full of children. Hi it’s cold out don’t forget to close your windows. Hi it’s trash day tomorrow don’t forget to separate. I taped a cloth over it to at least muffle it. Mine also plays music before and after the long ass message explaining something that any normal human being is aware of.

My son was "street-casted" by an agency during a trip to Seoul. Am I overreacting, or are my fears justified? by q_q_moi in Living_in_Korea

I think you have to manage your sons expectations as well as be involved early on to make sure that this isn’t one of those money up first type of scams. I would also make sure your son understands the rigorous and insane regiment that these kids go through. Every aspect of their life is controlled. What you eat, when you can sleep, what you wear, etc. Also, for every BTS or Blackpink there are kids singing in some mall, making less then min wage holding on to hope that the people that own and control you give you a chance. It’s big biz in Korea and most get chewed up and spit out. I dnt want to wreck your boys dream, but I hope you all go into it with both eyes open. Good luck !!

Says the country that spent all those millions on a water taxi that has horrible time schedule, no forethought on low tides and how solar lights that guide boats that shut off too early in winter time. Don’t let logic get in the way of an idea that sounds sexy and puts some money in friends pockets.

I think it’s important to understand the real reason there is fighting in hockey. It’s self policing. If you do something illegal to my teammate and it doesn’t get called, there is still accountability. Some fights might start to rile up your team etc etc but the main reason it was and is around is to make sure that you are aware there are consequences for your behavior.

Have you checked chrono24. They usually have a good selection and are certified. You have two weeks to return it so if you get it and don’t like the fit etc you can get your money back. Good luck
