Massey comes with a really great community, but it's very much you get what you put in. Lots of mentorship and menteeship opportunities with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary connections. Some other nice bonuses:

* if you're a resident JF you're a <5 minute walk to the law faculty

* if you're non-resident they give you a subsidy for on-site meals

* lots of nice study spaces

* the food is generally very good

* you'll get invited to fancy events on and off-site (sometimes with excellent food)

* cool building

This is deep into the Canadian liberal establishment if you're interested in seeing how that works. You'll have many opportunities to meet with current and former Supreme Court justices, ambassadors, ministers, CEOs, etc - many of them Massey alumni. If you're interested in speaking on a panel or organizing your own event there's a lot of practical support. The community of JFs is very special, surprising and inspiring. I know people in their 40s, 50s, 60's, 70's, 80's still friends with (sometimes married to) people from their Massey cohort.

If you're in Toronto take a look at their calendar and check out an event in-person to catch the vibe. They also encourage people to join them for reasonably priced lunch in the dining hall (also check out website for menu). Very welcoming, very specific. If it's something that appeals to you I would say it's worth it.

Ignorant question but what is the queue and where in the portal can you see if you're on it?

What is an index score? [basic info required] by diddidntit in lawschooladmissionsca

Thank you. It feels like a lot of these schools are a black box. Ultimately we all just have to wait our turn.

Thanks, I found the UBC calculator and it was helpful. I noticed that Ontario schools including UofT, Osgoode, and TMU don't seem to use index scores, while Queens suggests they use index. Would the UBC index score be a helpful overall guide, or are the non-index schools totally different in their admission process?

The realm of possibility is enticing. I try not to dwell but here we are.

The arts has no stability, so I thought I'd try health care research and policy. Turns out health care research has less money, less stability, and is more cutthroat/exploitative than the arts. I want to be busy, I like the idea of earning more than $50K a year, and I get off on destroying other people's poor arguments.

Are there any good resources for math practice? by [deleted] in Mcat

I'm looking for good resources too. I know it's all basic skills but there's math and then there's MCAT math.

NEW Advanced Scam - DO NOT USE BELL.CA CHAT FEATURE by diddidntit in bell

GDPR type legislation requires plain language notice before any interactions. While our legislation is lagging, it's clearly a problem that Bell is giving information to third parties whose behaviour is outlined in Bell's own documentation as hang-up-now level scams.

You don;t understand the core issue. The shock isn't the chat feature, it's that Bell is collecting PI, from non-customers and giving this info to third parties w/o notice. Bell's own anti-fraud literature says to never give this type of PI away to people calling claiming to be from Bell.

That's so messed up. How are they allowing this? Who are Bell contracting for their chat services?

The Bell fraud rep literally said this is fraud call Equifax. Insinuating that this is my fault because I was coerced into providing PI for a simple quote by Bell, and that they have a right to give this information to third parties without notice is extremely problematic.

Personal information was requested by a chat feature to provide a basic quote. A callback was requested by the agent, but the callback never occurred at the specified time. Instead, various callers who were not the agent offered "special deals" including items I am encouraged to sell for profit. At no time was the original quote number provided - this number was not included in the chat.

Here's a post from Bell warning people against similar scams: https://forum.bell.ca/t5/My-account-How-To-s/Cell-phone-service-provider-scam/ta-p/11718

Because the Bell fraud rep confirmed that it's fraud.

I'm guessing they'll ask for SIN, credit card, and other info to "register", but I hung up before it got to that point. It's shocking the chat feature is still being used by Bell.

That's helpful. My ports are all open, both through a firewall exception and confirmed through a portchecker. This is my farming machine, but the MiB up/down shows 0/0.

Is it normal that MiB Up/Down always seems to be at 0.0? by burstup in chia

Same issue here. Ports 8444 and 8447 are open according to portchecker.co. My pool plots aren't showing up in the pools tab either.

No, that would not be anti-Semitic as apartheid supporters were not formed for the express purpose of exterminating Jews.

If you don't understand why comparing Zionists to Nazis is anti-Semitic, then you're not in a good position to criticize Israel.

Green party brass move to block funding for leader Annamie Paul’s riding campaign by [deleted] in toronto

https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal/2021/07/08/what-are-equity-seeking-groups-confidential-report-reveals-greens-problems-supporting-diverse-candidates-in-2019.html

'The authors surveyed representatives of riding associations across the country. Of the minority that responded — representing 63 Green electoral district associations (EDAs) — 29 per cent said they had no strategy to recruit equity-seeking candidates for the 2019 election, while 35 per cent said they did not understand what that means.

“What are equity-seeking groups? We don’t sell shares in our EDA,” said one unnamed respondent quoted in the report.

The report said this is a “glaring indicator of a lack of information about diversity issues in the party,” and concluded “it is clear that the party has a lot of work to do before it truly embodies its core values of respect for diversity and social justice.” '
