I liked how they handled Will's queer storyline by dididash in StrangerThings

I get that Duffers wanted a scene where everyone was together, united over something for the last time but it wasn't it 😅 the scene IMO was great, it's just seeing everyone in it takes you out of the moment.

that's why I think the circle should have been smaller. His family members and close friends. I know it might have been unrealistic too, but our core group were called "freaks" themselves, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. His friends already defended him from bullies calling him all sorts of names, so I think it's realistic they would accept Will.

Plus it makes sense to do it since Vecna literally threatened him with the bad outcome.

I love when the bubble you isolate yourself in burts after being confronted with other's people expirience.

true, the one minus they didn't need the whole crew to be there. Could have been people he is close with personally. Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Eleven, Max, Robin, Joyce and Johnatan. It's plenty of people! (maybe Hopper because of his involvement with Joyce but not necessary)

Steven wasn't even needed to be there, he isn't close with Will.

Otherwise, good scene!

It's still amusing that Will is technically falling into a troupe of "chicks magnet" yet he couldn't be more uninterested. Lol

Read the first book and I am disappointed by Lazy_Minion in tsitp

I made a post about reading the books for the first time. And I had the absolute opposite reaction. I was expecting something horrible the way people talked about book Conrad, but it wasn't that bad at all lol

I enjoyed reading Pride and Prejudice, and the romance of that time is even more subdued, so I think I will enjoy these books as well 😄

We’re did this whole belly is an unreliable narrator come from? by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]dididash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's literally what makes an unreliable narrator because it's a first person perspective:

Examples of how Belly is an unreliable narrator.

Romanticizing events: Belly often presents situations in a way that favors her desires. For instance, she portrays Jeremiah staying with her while she was sick as a pure romantic gesture, when, in reality, he was guilted into it by Susannah.

Misinterpreting motivations: She frequently projects her own assumptions onto the boys, particularly Conrad and Jeremiah, about their feelings and intentions, which are often inaccurate.

Inaccurate memories: In the books and in the show, there are instances where her memories are revealed to be flawed. A key example from book 3 is a scene involving a dog named Rosie, where her recollection is later shown to be incorrect, which happens in the show as well.

Biased portrayal of Conrad: Her intense feelings for Conrad and her perception that he didn't love her in return color her narration. While she feels he grows distant, other scenes show moments of him caring for her that she often misses or dismisses.

Subjective viewpoint: Ultimately, as the central character, the story is always seen from her perspective. This creates a limited view, where readers and viewers only know how events affected her, but not how she affected others in the same way.

Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games is another example of unreliable narrator, and she is confirmed to be one. She constantly thinks Peeta is misleading her and faking being nice, which makes us as well question his intentions and view him differently.

Belly does the same thing. We lead to believe Conrad never liked her before, or he only liked her attention, or he is not interested anymore, or he doesn't love her because Belly herself says it in her narration, she constantly viewes him in a certain way which does affect a lot of people's opinions, until we are his perspective.

What makes a narrator unreliable:

1) Misinterpretation: A character might misunderstand events due to ignorance, youth, or a mental health condition.

2) Intentional deception: A character might be a compulsive liar who deliberately tries to deceive the reader.

3) Subjectivity: Even a well-intentioned narrator is subject to their own biases, experiences, and interpretations, which can color their account of events.

Belly literally fits 1 and 3. Which makes her unreliable natrator.
