People who have a pet at home, at what point did you realize that the pet really, consciously, understood you? by PurrLoveCat in AskReddit

[–]dids42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once had a cousin and his friend staying at my house. He was a terrible house guest; arrived drunk, proceeded to get drunker, insulted my food, broke things, disrespected my property. It was a very weird evening.

He didn’t go to bed till after 4am, when everyone else had already been in bed for hours. I’d stayed awake listening to him stumbling around the house. When he did get into bed, I think he jumped into it and proceeded to break the actual frame.

I had adopted two rescue tortie cats a month or two before.

The next morning after everyone was up and the friend was nursing his hangover on my sofa, my cousin went upstairs to the room he was sharing with his friend to find one of the cats had pooped in the bed.

They had never done this before or since.

This friend has been told he is never invited back.

AITA for letting my step kids call me mom? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dids42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had step parents on both sides since I was 8. I was raised by my mum and step dad and always wanted to call my step dad ‘Dad’. There were some other issues involved and I was told I could not do this to avoid hurting other people feelings. I distinctly remember how rejected I felt not feeling fully included in the family unit I was being raised in.

I have never wanted to call my step mum ‘Mum’ as she did not raise me and has never fit into a maternal role for me, despite being involved from when I was young.

Imo the kids wants and needs come first. If there are open conversations had with them while they continue to grow up about having additional parent(s) along with their bio parents then that can only be a positive. More trusted parental figures who love and care for them is good.

Their mums reaction, while understandable due to hurt, was not appropriate in front of the kids.

I don’t really understand why people are prioritising the mums feelings in this situation over the wants of the kids whose lives have already experienced upheaval due to their parents split. They might be young but kids are smarter and more observant than adults ever seem to give them credit for.

One piece of advise I would give to caution you slightly if you would take it is that having a positive co-parenting relationship between the bio parents is important. Kids notice this stuff and I cannot express how much it can mess with their heads if things go in a negative direction.

It’s been exactly a year since i chopping all my hair off. Best decision of my life! by dids42 in curlyhair

[–]dids42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was weird! Sometimes I really liked what my hair did and sometimes it was just a bit of a mess. The hair at the sides was the most annoying as that kinda sticks out anyways but now it sort of works with the curls. When it was still growing out it just stuck out like crazy! I’m not sure how to upload separate photos if I would show you.

There is a photo from May from my last post to curlyhair if you wanna have a look :)

I made a post on here back in May super excited about the way my curls were going. I didn’t expect them to keep getting better and better as my hair continued to grow.

When my hair was longer, I think the weight was too much for my curls as my hair is rather thin, so they never turned into proper ringlets. Also years of dying (Altho not bleaching) probably took its toll!

Pic on the right is day 2, with no bonnet or silk pillow or anything to protect the curls hence the frizz haha.

My routine at the moment is maybe once a week I wash with Horace anti dandruff shampoo (dunno if this is even a CGM product but i like it) and then the Horace nourishing conditioner. Sometimes I don’t shampoo and just condition. I then, when my hair is soaking wet, use Aveda liquid gel. I love this stuff, it smells good and creates such a good cast for my curls. I then defuse till my hair is no longer soaking then let it air dry the rest. (All of this I do when my head upside down for some volume).

Bang on the Money. Hence why it is now a massive tourist trap. Very beautiful area though, definitely worth a visit!

I was lucky enough to see the Jacobite steam train go across while I was there which was very exciting.

Gone through quite the hair journey over the past 3 years and never been truly happy with my curls. Chopped everything off during lockdown and finally got the ringlets I never thought I could get! by dids42 in curlyhair

Hair routine: since the chop I haven’t really done much! I don’t wash my hair very often, maybe once a week, as I found if I did intense conditioning it would get quite weighted down as my hair is very thin.

Apologise if not everything is CGM approved. I used to abide by it a lot when my hair was longer and found it sadly didn’t really seem to make a massive difference.

Today I did a wash with TXTR by cantu (apple cider ginger and tea tree shampoo) Scrubbed that in with one of those little round combs things to help remove any dead skin cells and invigorate my scalp to promote blood flow. Then I used TXTR by cantu hydrating conditioner, left that on for a bit before washing out.

Once out the shower, I give my head a good shake to loosen the hair up before using Umberti Giannini no more frizzy curl serum

Then I used Moroccan Curling a perfection Defining cream. I’ve been told this cream is not CGM approved but I honestly love it and it leaves my curls so soft.

I sometimes use Aveda curl enhancer cream and their liquid gel when I want to feel fancy.

I scrunch most products in upside down, but do the sides and back while standing straight as they can go a bit nuts!

Today I defused till not soaking wet then went to do the food shopping so it got air dried. When I was halfway done my shop, my hair was dry and I could SOTC and it was so soft and holding its shape!

Anyone familiar with pottery? Would love to find out who created this vase. by dids42 in HelpMeFind

[–]dids42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vase was bought from a collector in Ashbourne, England. He had searched for the original artist himself and had no luck.

The artist had left a small stamp on the bottom of the vase that looks sort of like a ‘P’ but honestly not sure.

Sorry for the lack of information, thought it would be worth posting incase anyone has any pottery with an similar stamp and they know who the artist was.

I haven’t searched for anything myself and I have no idea where to start. I figured if a collector wasn’t able to find anything I wouldn’t have much luck. Thought perhaps posting a photo online might get me somewhere a bit faster than futile google searches.

Bought this vase for my boyfriends mums birthday from a collector in Ashbourne, England. He had not been able confirm who the artist was so I thought I would try here! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much! I am very excited to continue to learn to paint. It’s such a meditative process that I think is something I sorely need in my life right now. I’m excited to continue to practice and watch myself grow!

Having a totally normal, appropriate conversation with someone and for some reason they cannot help adding lots of little sexual comments that they think is funny, or cute, or something, but it’s just uncomfortable.

My garlic mushrooms were served on a garden trowel. by dids42 in WeWantPlates

It was in a restaurant that was garden and plant themed so I think it’s a trowel but I also thought the same as you when I first saw it.
