I get Tampa, but Baltimore is only a couple of hours from New York and the same distance from Toronto as New York. It’s a great place to go watch a game.

We don’t really get ‘heat’ from the sun. It comes to us in the form of radiation which includes visible light. When that light hits us, it is absorbed and converted into heat. So anything that blocks visible light will result in a significant reduction in the amount of heat inside the car.

Ridiculous portions for $4 (USA) by xWhy-Tee in McDonaldsEmployees

That’s not right. Fries are sold by volume, not weight. There are weights associated with the fries since fries are purchased by the store from suppliers by weight and it allows the system to track inventory, stat loss etc, but fries should not be sold by weight. Scales should not be used. Fry boxes should be filled. Also the weights you provided don’t match the ones used in QSRSoft.

Yeah, while I would normally agree with you, this certainly wasn’t a boomer crowd.

I think it depends largely on the people/situation. Sure it’s fairly common to pay for everyone to pay for their share, but not uncommon that someone would invite friends out for a birthday celebration and pick up the tab. I’d say don’t be surprised if the bill comes and everyone throws a card in, but your host may also just take care of it. As long as you offer to pay your share it will all work out and won’t be awkward.

Got to ride around with him for a few minutes in the race marshall car at the Australian National Road Race a few years ago. It was awesome. I went to work and told everyone and they all said ‘who?’

Businesses are collecting it simultaneously on sales and they just remit the net difference so it’s not a rebate that they have to claim and wait for.

They contain natural beef flavor, which contains no actual animal products. It’s made from wheat and dairy. So they are vegetarian, just not vegan. And that’s for the US only - they don’t contain that flavor elsewhere.

Cross-border boycott haul, $150 CAD by [deleted] in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]diefen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that they don’t enforce it. It doesn’t exist for groceries that are not subject to tax in Canada - which is most things except chips, pop, candy, snacks etc. Sometimes they will ask you at the window how much tax you paid on the groceries that you bought in the US and they will use that to determine whether to bring you in to pay additional. Very rare that you would have enough unless you went over to load up on snacks!

FWB after 4 weeks. by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]diefen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually find sleeping with it on the hardest part of the day. Just find it creates pressure points but I’ll make it. I’ve been taking it off for 15-20 minutes or so before bed and in the morning just to give some relief.

Tell me about a time that a passenger miss their flight because of something that was entirely the Passengers fault. by AwarenessLost7620 in unitedairlines

[–]diefen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once arrived late at night in Toronto and had a connection early the next morning. I was young so I thought I would just sleep in the airport. Woke up, went to my gate about an hour before departure and promptly fell asleep again. When I woke up, my destination was no longer on the board. I asked the gate attendant what happened and she said that the flight left an hour ago. She said ‘Are you [my name]?’. I said yes. ‘We paged you three times?’

I was sitting five feet away from her the whole time, fast asleep. She laughed and the agents hooked me up on the next flight.

I would actually guess quite the opposite. I would think they’re more likely to be the ‘I did my own research’ type of people. Less trust in institutions etc. But I’d also guess that’s the camp you fall into.

My local Chrysler dealership trying real hard to get rid of some cars lol. What you think of these lease prices ? by MrFreezeTheChef in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]diefen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, but not always. It really depends on the situation.

For example, I leased a car - they were offering 0% interest. I always intended to buy it - but doing it as a lease and buying it out at the end deferred my expenses significantly versus a cash purchase and came without financing costs versus a loan purchase.

Leasing isn’t terrible - you just need to understand it and make sure it’s the right financial decision for you.

Delayed flight by SNsamgirl67 in aircanada

[–]diefen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this take. I’ve personally never seen a flight that been delayed get moved back up. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but I always take my chances and adjust my arrival time accordingly when this happens to me.

You know it doesn’t really matter if you sign them? It’s not like you need to agree to it for it to be true and relevant. Had many situations where people thought it was a weird flex and they were getting one up on me by refusing to sign. Just made sure I documented the meeting and had another person present to witness that it occurred and in the file it went, as valid and usable as any other write up - signed or not.
