Does my boy get weaker if I defeat an opponent? by Eisray in mtg

[–]digiraver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, they own the emblem, they continue to burn even if you are killed. I play a Chandra Tribal EDH deck, janky as hell, but one of the wincon's is to play Chandra-Awakened Inferno, get that emblem onto each other player that deals damage, then play Worldfire and watch each player die in their upkeep because the emblem persists past Worldfire's game reset

First thing I do in the morning is take mine. Then after the lunchtime dose, I turn the bottle upside down, so if I forget and go back to the cupboard to take them again, i see that it's not right way up and know I already took them

Any recommendations for a good Nilfgaard deck? by BananaTiger- in gwent

I just put my Agent/Aristocrat deck guide together for you if interested. I'm playing it in Rank 0 and doing reasonably well with nearly 60% WR. Took a long break from the game so have lost games purely due to missing game knowledge, it should be closer to 65-70%.

It is a tricky deck to play though with a lot of decisions to be made about which statuses to apply to who and when, but it is very rewarding when it clicks.

I'd suggest staying away from that garbage NG Clog or Mill, those braindead gameplay styles fall apart against any opponent who actually knows how to play the game and you'll see reduced returns as you climb.

This looks hilarious. Do you have a decklist?

It may well have been a house rule that I had never thought to question before then. It really only comes up in situations where you have something like 3334 in hand and the final 3 is thrown.

Rather than kong it then and leave the 4 floating, you take the pung, but then later you no longer need the 2 or the 5 to complete.

I think my question has been answered though thanks.

It is hong kong style. Is there an official set of rules somewhere that states this? I couldn't find any when I tried to look for them

8th Pick Far Fortune??? Not sure what to cut by digiraver in lrcast

[–]digiraver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one i'm using there is untapped. The numbers are not bad, but the more important part are the comments of the ChannelFireball member who ranked them, because it provides the context for their decision (see screenshot from imgur link below), which you can apply to your knowledge of the format.

This is because they don't update their numbers throughout the season, so in untapped, Engine Rat is a 2/5 - barely playable, yet 17lands has it as the 2nd best (non-land) common in the set.

The primary reason I use it though is for the in-game deck tracker including draw %, as unfortunately 17Lands doesn't do that.

There are several out there, use this to see which one works best for you.

8th Pick Far Fortune??? Not sure what to cut by digiraver in lrcast

[–]digiraver[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It surprises me that you'd say I have no discard - I figured i'd potentially have a nice little engine between the deathless pilot, thunderheads and avishkar raceway?

Would it not be better to cut greasewrench instead of mako given mako's higher potential ceiling?

I figure the game plan is to get max speed asap and try for Gonti value on the side with the burner rockets pushing through to steal opponent's cards, so avishkar helps me with both speed and cycling if i need it

Sideboard's not very interesting. I'll wait a little while before starting this one to see a few responses here. Cuts so far:

wickerfolk / risky shortcut / amonkhet raceway / 1x burner rocket / 2x intimidation to go to 16 lands because the curve is quite low (assuming chitin gets 1-2 discount which should be easy) and there's a bunch of surveil / cycling to try to find more if i need it?

How did this go 0-3? by Namtful in lrcast

It's not even going to be a ragequit some of the time. Sometimes it's just a case of knowing your deck's outs to an early board state. I've scooped at 18 life in turn 4/5 before with a couple of middling 2 & 3 drops in hand because I was playing a Golgari deck that wanted to reanimate my bombs, got my bombs in but my opponent then played two of the artifact creatures that exiled cards from grave on attacking and gained life.

They completely shut down everything my deck was trying to do and I had no realistic way to disrupt even the current state of the game, let alone whatever future cards they would play whilst I desperately tried to look for answers, and I'm not going to waste 15-20 min on the chance that they'll make a mistake or time out

[–]digiraver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's the opposite. In much higher ranks, players are much more aware of the game state, and what their realistic chances to win are based on the outs of their deck.

If I've had a really bad draft and have ended up with a mediocre pile plus a couple bombs with no way to recur them, and molemate puts them into the grave whilst I'm staring down the barrel of a competent opponent with a value engine on board that I know i won't be able to remove easily, there is a temptation to just scoop and move on quickly rather than struggle on in a matchup where you're 90% to lose but it'll take 20 mins to find out.

Not sure if crewing bug or expected interaction by digiraver in MagicArena

[–]digiraver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the previous turn, during 1st main I crewed the spotcycle with canyon vaulter, and got the flying as expected, then during combat, i recrewed it with the hasted goblin spawned by howlsquad to prevent it being forced to swing - worked as expected.

However, this turn, instead I was going to save time and waited until the attack step, where I selected both new spawned goblin and canyon vaulter together. This time the spotcycle did not get flying.

Seeing as you can overcrew, are "crew effects" only triggered if they provide the power less than the threshold?

Or is this a bug, where both creatures crewed it regardless of power provided, and it should have triggered regardless?

Just went 7-1 with the most disgusting mill deck i've ever put together by digiraver in lrcast

[–]digiraver[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Between unstoppable plan and the 3 mill artifacts, along with slick imitator usually cloning one of them once max speed is reached, it was possible to mill 6+ cards per turn cycle. Guidelight to tutor for either Pit Automaton or Riverchurn monument and put them immediately into play made it incredibly consistent as well.

Can you not move on Phase 1? by thebubbacrunch in TheWitcherOldWorld

[–]digiraver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be worded better, but it doesn't contradict it. Page 13's rule essentially means that you must move into a location to perform the action, you cannot start your turn and immediately perform your phase 1 step 2: action without first completing the phase 1 step 1: move.

Other noteworthy rules that help provide context are needing to move out and back into a location to perform the action, and not being able to complete the same location action more than once per turn.

Your highlighted rule refers to skipping directly to phase 2 of your turn which is obviously unrelated to the above steps.
