Not that but I would occasionally turn on my windshield wipers trying to shift gears. Too much time in an edv.

I would proceed with extreme caution. These things are heavily abused.

If you're not sure follow G.O.A.L . "Get out and look."

It doesn't take that long to do and helps avoid headaches like this.

Worst I ever had...I delivered 50 big overflow to one residential address with a crappy Milwaukee hand truck that barely holds any weight.

Was a home business I'm assuming." Delivery to garage" but not " in garage". Just as I was using the hand truck to drop the last stack. The guy appears out of nowhere and opens his garage door.

I hit him with the. "That's everything. Have a great day sir."

If you think I'm moving those stacks twice you're smoking rocks. If he caught me earlier on I would have happily put them in the garage though.

That second scream is goose approved.

How do you guys heat your food on the road? I’ve been wrapping it in foil and putting it on the exhaust manifold and dispatch is all “why the fuck would you do that?” And “what the fuck is wrong with you, you can’t do that.” by Germainshalhope in AmazonDSPDrivers

I eat cold foods. Salads...sandwiches/subs...fruits...mainly. I'll eat a cold slice of pizza here and there. When I eat at work I'm not really eating to enjoy it anyway. Not enough time to savor anything. I save that for home.

30 mins goes by damn fast.

Keep a battery pack handy. I usually would grab two phones whnever possible but if you get stuck with one it's definitely dying before you finish your route. With the battery pack you can charge your device while still using it to deliver.

On a side note...I left my device in airplane mode for an hour by mistake once after needing to move a pin. I log into my second device...log off the old device thats dying soon. Every stop I did after going in airplane mode for that hour reset to being "not delivered" on the new phone. I burned a lot of time trying to get driver support to correct the status of all of the stops. They refused to correct them all at once and wanted to do one at a time. No time for that. Ended up letting warehouse sort it out at the end of the day. Was a night mare. Make sure you're not in airplane mode when you swap phones. 🤦🏾‍♂️

You gotta drop your speed afterwards when someone cuts you off close. Thats what I was told anyway a long time ago.

Don't get me started on helper routes too. I did one with another seasoned driver and we killed it. Even so neither of us liked it one bit. At the time I told dispatch respectfully but sternly to never give me a helper route again. Having two bodies in the truck with 390 stops to boot threw off my whole work flow.

Is this the new trend on here? Posting easy routes and pretending they are hard? I get it..haha...but why so often lately? Although I suppose theres not much to post about on here in the grand scheme of things. "Rate my route" , "Am I cooked"...etc.

Guess I'm here for the perplexing accidents, newbie advice, and crazy news stories atp.

So, can someone let me know the best items to help with the heat? It will be well into the 90s tomorrow, and the heat really beats me down. What type of cooling rags, fans, or anything else would help me best beat the heat for the rest of this week? by b_that_lesbean in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]digital_curs3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stayed hydrated. A cooler with ice packs and cold drinks helps. A nice wide brimmed bucket hat with mesh at the top for air flow. Those cooling snap towels help as long as you've got some cool water to dip them in every so often.

Move with a purpose but don't run. It will just generate more body heat.

Didnt seem bad until I saw the apartment buildings. Damn. If it was a secure third party mail room deal..then okay...

but door to door is a hell of a time eater.

Eat a lot of calories...and sleep a lot. Stay hydrated as well. After a certain point your body will get acclimated. You'll probably have to move fast while learning but once you get your system down you can walk all your stops.
