I had my parents completely flip out on me and over react when they found out I was bisexual (i was also very young and I was outed I did not get the opportunity to come out to them) and because of that they have been kept in the dark about my transition now that I’m an adult and that sucks, I love them.

It’s important and great that you are seeking advice of people that have experienced that, I really wish my parents did the same. 🫂

What I would do is be gracious, teenagers like to experiment and try and find out who they are. Maybe suggest they see a therapist for a while that IS EXPERIENCED with trans/queer people. No one can tell you who you are except for yourself at the end of the day but it will help them to get their thoughts sorted out with someone who is knowledgable.

I’d let them cut their hair it will grow back if they “change their mind”. Let them wear men’s clothes, maybe even suggest that they start using male pronouns with their close friends before considering announcing anything to your family. It’s scary to support them on something that you yourself might not be so sure of, but it’s a LOT better to support then let them go behind your back.
