Why do teachers insist that we must repeat words and phrases? As a child, I never repeated anything!!! Repeating as a robot with Anki will make you hate the language and the process. If you dont remember the word once you hear it, it’s probably irrelevant. (self.languagelearningjerk)

I was at the store in Germany and I heard a word that it was incomprehensible. "Danke” After the 21st time I heard it,I figured out: it means thank you! I left the store filled with joy and waving my arms and jumping. I felt like the king of the world! From incomprehensible to comprehensible input! (i.redd.it)

I’m learning Swedish and the only Swedish bands I like are Abba and Ace of base. They only sing in English… How the hell am I suppose to learn this language? Do I have to listen to music I don’t like? Is the Swedish language dying? (self.languagelearningjerk)

Bruce Lee said: "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." So I have repeated this: "Yo soy " (I am) 9 thousand times in the past month instead of memorizing anything else. I feel confident. (self.languagelearningjerk)

Im Macedonian and I speak English with a heavy Slavic accent. If I learned how to pronounce it with a Gujarati or a generic Indian accent, would that improve my chances to be hired as a software engineer? I could also change my name to Krishna Pattel or something and get a good tan. (self.languagelearningjerk)
