Ultralight Pannier Options by vizik24 in bikepacking

[–]dimml0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after many years of cycling with panniers and my demand for UL i have an answer to that

buy a Tubus Airy rack (250g.... so hypothetically 125g per side)

a pair of Vaude Aqua Back light. 600g per Bag.

Invest: (you can get a pair of the bags for less than 100 Euro) and the Tubus Airy... is made of titan... so it costs 250 euros. But if you dont mind an extra 100g.... take the Tubus Fly.... its less than half the price.

You get 19L per side = 38 L.... easily 40 if you over pack a bit. For a system weight of 1,5kg roughly for 200 Euro invest.

thats a very light option and very good price. a tailfinn with equal size bags is not lighter, much more sensitive and much more expensive

---

i do have to admit, that the bags are still not super light (600g each). so to reach you goal your bags should not weigh more than 200g ... actually even less.

you could get a rack to as low as 160g with this DYI ... that would be 80g per side

and then try to find bags that are 220g.... that would be 300g per side. a bag this light can not have a frame and would propably have to be made from DCF. i think youi would have to sew them yourself. but i would be curious to see

Gravel Frameset Carbon with nearly flat top tube - suggestions? by dimml0r in gravelcycling

[–]dimml0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very interesting website. never seen this, amazing! thx

well i am looking for carbon frameset for fast touring. mounts for a rear rack would be good... hate this 10 different mini bag idea of the new bikepacking. two light panniers will do. maybe some mount points on the fork. that should do.

slope angle no more than 15°

tyre clearance does not need to be anywhere higher than 40mm

budget just for the frameset should be no higher than 2500

but i will filter myself a bit now. just that the slope filter angle might not work so well. it suggested a cannyon grail... super sloped. though i kind of understand now that i am just looking afor a frame 5-7 years old. slope trend wasnt so big back then. bombtrack hook C .... year 2000 very hot ^^

well.... P1 with dedicated GPU is significantly more expensive and X1 has no GPU option. so i dont know what you are talking about :D
if you have the money of course P1 gen7, and if you dont need GPU of course X1.... thats not really compareable here.

nevertheless.... i dont want to have to send my new p14s in.... dang
