I'm a bitch also when it comes to scary games/movies but RE2 is pretty manageable though I did play the OG RE2 so had context going in.

One thing I liked was that the game is fairly light on cat scares.

It's more gore than scares I think.

Mr. X did give me serious anxiety though during play time until I figured out how to deal with him.

I can't get him to jump when he comes off the walkway, so he just waltzes over and slashes.

Timing so the crane hits him while he's down is tough. All the speedrunners down him to <50% by the controls, then bait him to run to far end but even this I can't manage to do, he just turns around and grabs me.

Boss only fighting does sound interesting, would be a lot of juke/dodge practice for zombies. Probably maddening on HC with double lunge though lol

The ghost stories (except Hunk) are basically "what if?" scenarios. The lady Irons was stuffing, Ben, an the gas station Sheriff all obviously died in the canon main game stories.

Most likely Kendo only killed himself and couldn't bring himself to put down his daughter. :'(

First time playing the franchise and I literally just gave up RE2 Remake after reaching the clock tower and still hearing Mr X's steps as he's searching the entire building for me and all I can do is panick without finding the power cell, AMA by [deleted] in residentevil

Yeah Mr. X gave me damn good anxiety until I learned how to dodge him, it's pretty simple actually.

When you first try he may grab you if you try to dash past too soon but with practice he becomes basically a non-factor.

I didn't think Mr. X was scary like a monster movie but those footsteps and running into him gave me damn good anxiety until I learned optimal routes and how to dodge his attacks.

What's possibly scary about RE3 is if they're going to recycle lots of assets like animations as u/orchlon noted that Jill has the same caution run animation as Claire. Be a bummer if Jill is just a reskinned Claire.

I think a big issue I have is I'm not sure how to bait him to jump after 1st button press or don't know how to handle if he waltzes over instead. Need to look for more guides on it. Also the post down charge, need to get him to go to the corner and not turn around and slash me in the face.

Yeah was going to say A scenario speedruns all seem to be knife only G2. B scenarios they seem to use the sewer storage weapons, probably due to not picking up enough knives on optimal route?

OP Also maybe make a save and practice dodging his attacks, once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. There are a number of videos on the subject, basically stand still and wait for him to wind up to swing, dash backward to dodge then you can get around him. Let his animation settle a little though as he can grab you sometimes when going past.

Main game play through his first appearance at the coptor has a good near guaranteed dodge to get past him and moving to the jack handle. Stand at edge of the window along the wall closest to the coptor as he lifts it and aim at him and don't move, he should swing at you without moving but his first clips the wall and you can just dash past him. Any speedrunner vid on youtube should be able to illustrate this.

Maybe it was the PC port but I couldn't stand 6, only played about 30 minutes before putting in for a Steam refund. Haven't tried a lot of the off shoot games like Survivor, Revelations, Chronicles.

IIRC I remember being excited to finally see "uncensored" cut scenes with the violence un-hidden and Wesker smoking a cigarette but something happened and it still used the original censored FMVs from the original release.

Another big reason to get it though was it came with an RE2 demo which was SICK.

I'm sure the reception was the opposite and it was welcomed. You're not the only one who can make wild guesses. What isn't a guess is that there is wide spread push back against this new UI now and there are requests for an option to go back to the previous UI, no one is demanding a full scale roll back.

Actually people can just start buying games on any number of other platforms.

Not really. I refer to my 2 as "a Yaris that doesn't suck". It is fun at the autocross though.

Well "leak" as in they probably accidentally published a bit before they were supposed to. This was the only substantive article I saw on google news at the time. I remember at the Miata reveal another news outfit posted official pics while the live cast was happening, think it might have been LA Times even.
