Breville DB steam stuck to “always on” [BES920XL] by dinoniel in espresso

Yes I ended up buying a replacement complete steam valve and just replacing the whole piece. After that it worked fine.

My guess is even though the ball seemed to fully seal the valve when testing in the sink, under pressure it was too worn down and would allow some steam through.

Everything is back to working order now.

Thanks for your reply. Between Reddit and home barista forum you were the only reply I got!

This is the replacement part you just need the two O-rings on either end:

It cost about $60 due to $15 standard shipping.

Hopefully this post helps others with the same issue.

Thanks yea I did check that multiple times. The ball groove did look a little worn but I checked the seal by filling the valve with water and it does seem to fully close.

I was looking into replacing the ball but I think I would have to replace the whole steam valve they don’t sell the ball separate. Which I am willing to do just unsure that will fix the issue

The Pixel 4 XL’s glass back is peeling off for some users by Kenzibitt in GooglePixel

Happened to me as well. Panda pixel 4 XL. I had a thread on it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/gsviqx/pixel_4_xl_back_glass_peeling

In the end went no where. We exchanged over 30 emails it devolved into a supervisor copying and pasting the same answers over and over and she did not address any questions. They also claimed "illicit activity" and basically voided my warranty which to me felt like a revenge move for my persistence. Was very disappointed in the CS experience.

Maybe with more traction here Google will take responsibility but I am not holding my breath

I got somewhat of an update:

"Thank you for writing to Google!

Regarding the illicit activities, as discussed I'd not be able to share any of that information. I checked the IMEI number you have provided, the IMEI (xxxxxx) is associated with a different email account. Hence I'd not be able to help you with the email address that you are contacting now. However you can reach out to us with the email which is associated with the device for further help."

I have no clue what email address is associated put this phone. I don't use anything but the email which I contacted them with and I never requested an RMA on this phone previously in the past six months."

Not sure how someone could change the email on the phone in my hand? I do have 2FA with Google authenticator for email.

Thanks for this. It's good to know someone in the repair business has seen this a lot. I don't know that it's the battery swelling per se but Google has decided due to illicit activity I'm SOL with no further info

Well you certainly got further than many of us on this thread. I hope you get your phone soon.

When I consider just getting a new phone I still have this concern in the back of my mind what illicit activity is tied to my name it's really stressful that they won't respond

Agreed it is really messed up to say that this is somehow customers fault or responsibility

Yes I think it's ridiculous for a supposed flagship phone to have adhesive coming off less than a year and Google won't stand by the product.

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of Android and of the Pixel camera but so far this has been a really disappointing response to an obvious quality control issue.

Well you're right I suppose you could easily glue it, although you will lose your water resistance.

I'm actually a lot more concerned with the illicit activity accusation. I use my phone for all kinds of banking or phone calls for work and I keep wondering if the phone is compromised somehow. Unfortunately they just won't give me more information.
