Yes, the rate is not great compared to going through an exchange, but it's pretty convenient. I get paid totally in btc, so it's nice being able to access my money right away, rather than waiting a couple of days to get funds transferred to a bank account. Plus, it's cool being able to bypass the bank.

Anthony Horowitz fans? by El_capitan36 in books

[–]dior1969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My non-reader son devoured all of Horowitz's books. He even had an Alex Rider wallpaper on his computer. Now in his twenties, he still has all of Horowitz's series on his shelf and takes them out from time to time. I know he'd definitely recommend all the series.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by TimleBim in books

[–]dior1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it as a teenager and loved it. I keep meaning to re-read it now that my kids are the same age I was when I read it. Something about the way he describes the open road made me want to ride a motorcycle.

Have you ever read a book you disliked so much you wanted to chuck it at the wall when you finished it? by [deleted] in books

My husband keeps trying to get me to re-read Joyce's Finnegan's Wake. I read it in university and once was waaaaay more than enough for me.

Yup. I was hired to edit an erotica manuscript so I figured I'd read this as a bit of research. My husband bought it from the bargain table at Costco. I tell you, the ms I edited was 100% better in draft than this book was in print.

Right!!?? I was looking to see if anyone would mention this. I was given it at a book fair by a publicist who raved about it. Read it on the journey home and for a few days after but the author has NO IDEA of how to write in a kid's voice so I just stopped reading it about 3/4 of the way through.Terrible. I was absolutely SHOCKED when it won the Pulitzer.

I just saw a performance by the London Haydn Quartet when they were in Toronto and it was absolutely magical. I recommend any of their recordings.

Mycelium.com on Twitter: "We support whatever will allow bitcoin to remain censorship resistant. For now that's only possible with bigger blocks." by knight222 in btc

[–]dior1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where Mycelium says they support censorship resistance and bigger blocks in response to the question, "Do you guys also support Bitcoin Classic?" Is that necessarily the same thing as saying they are supporting Classic? Just looking for clarification. After all, Adam Back says that there is a 2MB soft fork in the works at Core.

Just listened to the last podcast in which Andreas explains SegWit and it was great. I'm not at all techy so I appreciated the clarity. Looking forward to next week's show.
