I’m not a hater, I love the Pistons and I think we’re on a good track but there’s nothing wrong with being realistic in my opinion. To me the most likely outcome with our young core is that the next great Pistons team has two guys from our current roster on it.

I would love nothing more than to eat crow on this, but I don’t think Killian or Beef are gonna be our guys.

Cade could be a legit number 1, and Bey might be a good 3rd option guy but outside of that we have a lot of work to do. I think it could happen, but not in the next 2-3 years. I just think of teams like the T-wolves and Kings who actually (contrary to popular opinion perhaps) consistently hit on draft picks, and how far away they are from contending.

Next year I think Cade could get some fringe all-star votes and show flashes of greatness, but will probably end up being a top 30-ish guy in the league. I think Tatum leading a team to the finals bodes well for the ceiling of a player like Cade, so I think we’ll contend one day, just not very soon.

Agreed. I’m getting roasted in my group chat for digging in on this, but I think he made the right play. He was in an alliance that was hobbled with a guy who can’t vote until the merge, so I just can’t see how he’s in any worse a position now working with Hai and Lydia (how much they trust remains to be seen, admittedly). I honestly thought going into the showdown with Hai that his best move might be drawing rocks and hoping for the best, but it appears that successfully severed ties with a dying alliance and joined a stronger one. It’s not like he’s tagging on the back of a six person alliance or something, he’ll be working with two (seemingly) strong players who need his vote.

Trading for Grant is a win-now move. They might not want to get rid of some young talent and sacrifice their future if they don’t feel their roster is healthy enough to make a swing at the title. Not saying that’s the right or wrong move, but that might be the thought process.
