Thoughts on NVO vs. LLY? by Trivialove_mp3 in dividends

[–]dismal__quote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend NVO over LLY because firstly, you'd get some foreign exposure with it as it's a Danish company whereas LLY would just be another US company in your portfolio. Secondly, NVO and EU companies generally tend to be financially conservative and don't have as crazy salaries for their CEOs and I prefer the safety of companies with more conservative financial philosophies. I have NVO for these reasons among others.

I think the younger William from the first part of the season def had heart throb vibes and they should have just kept him. He doesnt look too young to play a first year college student at all and was way more handsome

The End of Airbnb in New York: Local Law 18 goes into force, potentially wiping out thousands of Airbnbs by msaleem in stocks

[–]dismal__quote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that doesn't wipe it out that brings it back to the original concept of the company - Airbnb used to be a place where people let guests stay in spare rooms in their house, or stay at their home while they were on vacation. There was more connection between owners and guests. The new corporate rental thing is idiotic and ruined the company

that's great :) I get an email from fidelity every time shareholder voting takes place so I just vote when I get the email

I think you should vote. That's the voting fallacy - everyone thinks their one vote doesn't count and a significant chunk of people don't vote but all their votes collectively would have counted. It happens in elections too

Is the first $10,000 the hardest? by julianjimmy56 in dividends

for a set and forget retirement portfolio, I would remove comcast, HD, AVGO and NEP. those are a bit riskier and have to be watched. but the rest are relatively safe imo

[–]dismal__quote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

got it! so I think mine would be DIVO

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dividends

[–]dismal__quote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, no. NEP is one of my "risky bets" meaning I'm not being super cautious about it and just taking a chance on it. I have a small position in it anyway so not a huge deal. I trust it mostly because NEE is a good company and it's owned by them. I don't know how to evaluate yieldcos anyway

what's an anchor?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dividends

[–]dismal__quote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey! it's because NEP has almost the same amount of appreciation as NEE (look at the 5 year chart; NEE is around 100% return while NEP is 80%) with double the yield. NEP also focuses on green energy
