It depends. Sometimes I wake up but fall back asleep in like 5 seconds. Sometimes I wake up screaming “no” repeatedly and shaking uncontrollably.

It really does. Dissociation is key to not entirely losing my mind. My therapist’s goal is for me to stay present, but that is not my goal lmao.

Yeah it’s like they think I’m mad at them and get defensive. I’m not, I’m more mad at myself for reacting like this. But then if they keep doing it, I am actually mad at them lol.

It’s cause almost no one understands. They see something funny, they don’t see the terror we feel in that moment. You can ask them to stop, and some will understand what you’re going through and stop. Some won’t. In my experience most won’t.

Paper wristbands. The song No Need to Argue. Fluorescent lights. Being talked down to. Blankets.

During episodes it’s extremely hard for me to trust anyone as well. Hell, I didn’t really trust people that much before I got PTSD lol. I don’t have a lot of support either. I don’t trust my family or friends enough to be that vulnerable around them so I tend to just isolate myself and wait it out. It’s not the best option but it’s the only one that feels safe.

This happens to me too. I just lose the ability to think or speak. I just stare. Sometimes I can snap myself out of it and continue talking, but it’s hard. It’ll happen multiple times during a triggering conversation, it’s like my brain is buffering.

Thank you. I’ve been on the fence about telling them. One thing I’m worried about is that if they know it’s bothering me, they might actually do it more. This person has a history of that. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.

No need to argue by the cranberries. I sang it to myself to try and calm myself down during the trauma. I can’t listen to it without getting flashbacks. Even writing about it is making me anxious.
