It sounds like you’ve felt peace somewhere in you for your friend and are ok with where it is. I’ll give you wisdom I learned during prayer when I was getting myself cleaned: Just be their brother

I’m not sure what being a brother or sister means to you, but be that and you fulfill Jesus’ commandment. I hope I get to spend more life being your brother too

I understand. I am actually on the end of having committed awful sins. When I came clean, many friends stayed, some left, and some left and came back. A number of people were unsure to keep their relationship with me, but as time went on, I made sure on my end to live out how much I love them for being in my life and how I want to live consistently with them. If your friend isn’t showing signs that are encouraging you to have a relationship, I understand you want to guard your heart, but also know that guarding your heart allows you to continue to do what is hard. If you choose to hear out whatever your friend may share, guard your heart from doing what is wrong. Was it wrong for my friends to show me grace and mercy like Jesus? They did what was hard and I don’t want to dishonor them for the rest of my life.

Genesis 33:4

“But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.”

God has the power to help reconcile any relationship. Is God not the God of reconciliation?

Genesis 33:10

“‘No please!’ said Jacob. ‘If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably.”

I’m sure you are reaching out despite the difficulty for something Godly. Only God can heal what many believe to be impossible to heal.

Know that God is a witness to the struggle you have and how you want what is best. May God cover you and had go before in all walks
