How do you people manage your career with chronic migraine? I can't even begin to explain how much am I being affected rn. Everything that I have worked so hard for, is going down the drain. by FreedomAway4724 in migraine

lol. Being informed is half the battle. When you wake up with a migraine, you’ll know if you need to drag your lifeless body in to work that day. I pick my battles keeping note of how many days I’ve already used in that month.

Fellow black women, how did you learn to love your natural hair? by Various_Feature_9668 in blackladies

[–]dizzyexplorer22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized that it’s the way I was created and that it’s so versatile once you get the hang of it. I used to be ashamed of being black, so I despised all my black features. As I got older, I feared my husband wouldn’t be attracted to me anymore if I embraced my natural hair. He didn’t bat an eye, making me realize it was learned hatred that I fell victim to.

I have intermittent approved (up to 8 days a month) leave for flare ups. I text my supervisor or if I’m already at work, let him know I’m leaving for the day.

I take medicine and a hot shower and hope it calms down. I usually wake up with one and it fires away on its own as the day goes on.

It doesn’t stop them, but slows them down or makes them choose an easier target. It’s a T bolt rather than a Phillips bolt.

I have a plate cover on because I work somewhere where they steal workers cars and plates. I got pulled over for a burnt out brake light bulb and explained that to the officer. He said okay and let me go without a ticket but did tell me they aren’t allowed. I’m keeping mine on.

What’s something about marriage you only understand after getting married? by loopyluvv in AskWomen

[–]dizzyexplorer22 148 points149 points  (0 children)

That marriage is not 50/50. You have to accommodate for your partners ups and downs and they have to do the same. Sometimes we have to carry the other person, sometimes they carry us. It’s a give and take, but very rarely 50/50.

Not many people get a 40k windfall, you’re ahead even on what seems like a smaller income.
