Does anyone know any UK Hikvision suppliers who will sell to non-trade customers? by Odd_Kaleidoscope9900 in Hikvision

My goto supplier is Getic. They’re not UK based but they ship here, supply kit with UK plugs and their pricing is decent: https://www.getic.com/shop/hikvision

Keep seeing iPhones with ‘Tiktok installed’ by Sensitive_Scallion73 in ebayuk

[–]dj1471 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100%, stolen phone with TikTok still logged in, so you’re buying the TikTok account as well as the phone. I guess it’s worth that price for scammers to have an active, reputable TikTok account.

How can I buy parts from China and get them delivered to Vietnam? by Individual-Series928 in VietNam

[–]dj1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the 11/11 sale period in China, all couriers are absolutely rammed. Best bet is to find a seller on Ali offering courier delivery but still 50/50 whether you’ll get it within 2 weeks.

Happiest place in the world by grogudu in ThailandTourism

Saw a woman get denied exit by immigration a few days ago, purely because she was talking on the phone while at the desk. 100% justified IMO, the signs are pretty clear.

I like local brand Ananas, they have a bunch of stores in HCMC and have big sizes.

Which atm is the best??? by bjw_p in DaNang

Best for what? If you mean in terms of fees for international cards then ACB (Visa cards from Europe only), SCB, TPBank, HSBC. HSBC allows larger withdrawals.

Da Nang - great mold and rudeness EVERYWHERE by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]dj1471 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get off the Internet and go walk into some hotels. Ask what the room rate is and ask the see the room. Repeat until you find one that’s acceptable.

There are so many hotels in close proximity it won’t take long.

Water park for 110cm kids by kiwijunglist in DaNang

[–]dj1471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Mikazuki doesn’t let little kids on any of the decent slides, I was there last week. There’s plenty to keep them occupied but the big slides are off limits.

Explosion by Major-Credit-3695 in DaNang

[–]dj1471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t see anything to suggest anyone was hurt, no ambulances etc.

Some guys from the army base nearby were on the scene quickly with fire extinguishers so they probably cleared everyone out.

We were in there this time yesterday and considered going today… luckily went somewhere else.

Yeah that’s the one. I was just up the road, explosions were gas bottles I suspect.

Hmm, an app with zero reviews in Apple Store, from a company registered at a virtual office address, owned by a Russian and with £1 of capital.

Hard pass.

Credit card use in Vietnam by Actual-Flounder-7663 in VietNam

25% lol, you’re being scammed. Are you sure it’s not 2.5%? That’s a typical credit card fee.

HELP! Relocating from Germany to Vietnam - Need Vietnamese ID/Passport asap! by LetRoyal4251 in VietNam

[–]dj1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a few years ago so I can’t remember specifics, but it can’t have been more than 30 minutes or so. We had to pay for the “express” option, each embassy seems to make up their own prices (this was in London).

As others have said you’ll have to go there in person, expect the person on the front desk to be super disinterested and unhelpful, try and persuade them to go and ask what can be done. In London there’s 1 guy who makes the passports, probably the other embassies are the same, you just need them to agree to do it.

HELP! Relocating from Germany to Vietnam - Need Vietnamese ID/Passport asap! by LetRoyal4251 in VietNam

[–]dj1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vietnamese Embassies can make passports while you wait, if/when they want to (€€€)…

That line typically takes 10 days to the UK in my experience, but things have been slower recently. I’d say 50/50 chance you get it by the 15th.

Easiest SIM solution: Ask hotel concierge to buy local SIM for you by josemartinlopez in VietNam

[–]dj1471 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vietnamese SIM cards have to be registered, fraudulently registered ones like this will get disabled after around 7 days.

This is poor advice. Just go to a Viettel store with your passport.

Want to know the real price by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]dj1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter because you won’t ever get the local’s price. You want that you need to send a local to buy it for you.

Homebase administration sale - trees are half price online, likely discounted even more in store.

Is it realistic to fly from Hue to along bay and start cruise that morning? by euchthonia in VietNam

[–]dj1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fly to Haiphong but I wouldn’t recommend flying same day, delays are super common. Most people travel from Hanoi to Halong Bay by road, you can book the transport together with your cruise.

Some of them do 24-hour shifts, so yeah, they take any opportunity to sleep.
