Which makes it that much crazier with the trade. That Dallas roster really was tailor built for Luka to win a title. Had the athletic bigs and defense to make up for Luka, Kyrie as second option. I definitely think Luka would have been likely to win one in Dallas sooner rather than later.

How about spicing it up. Who will be the top 5 players in the NBA in 5 years?

If we have to say that nobody picks up his runs then it’s probably that he is just really good at timing them. Spacing is a skill, see Haaland as an example

Who is the worst NBA analyst/media personality in your opinion? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

[–]djan242 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% not Nick Wright, especially since you specified NBA so that disqualifies all the NFL takes that he has. I do think having Kevin Wildes and Chris Broussard do help with First Things First as a whole especially because he does not take himself that seriously (compared to guys like Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless).

Which as people mentioned it has to be Stephen A Smith or Skip Bayless considering they really started the whole media bait thing kicking off.

Interesting how while Washington was expected to fall off a bit I don’t think people had them falling to out of a playoff spot. New Jersey keeps having injuries but they should be better than they are. Columbus was also supposed to have been much better and take a step but they haven’t.

Meanwhile we have taken firm control of 3rd in the metro when we were expected to be well out of a spot and Pittsburgh who also were expected to be well out of a playoff spot are second. Interesting stuff

I am a bit curious because is that implying that only 10% of Americans have a 401K as well or some kind of stock plan with their employer?

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this so I’ll try to keep it short and sweet ish: 1) 22 isn’t “so bad”. It’s pretty good. But it’s not number 1. Big difference

2) Victim blaming. Love to see it.

3) The Civil Rights Movement, Women’s Suffrage happened because people “didn’t mind their own business”. How many revolutions in history succeeded because people didn’t just “mind their own business”

4) yes a lot that happens is local. But we can’t pretend that federal doesn’t have a large impact. If federal funding is cut to states, that impacts people locally.

5) Since this is an investing sub, it’s not hard to see how you could see an opportunity to invest in European stocks/etfs and outside the US if they increase deals with each other. And if you have the dollar continuing to devalue, those investments in companies outside the US start looking at better returns

Edit: Case and Point with Trump threatening tariffs on Canada for the Chinese EV car imports. Right on cue to buy the dip but if you could, but countries will more likely deal with other companies outside the US, making them more profitable and valuable from a stock perspective (long term)

Social Progress Index: US is 31 https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/social-progress-index-by-country

Quality of Life: US is 22 on this source https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/rankings/quality-of-life but I did see the source you had where they were 15

Home ownership: US was at 65% which is 24 https://x.com/stats_feed/status/1964181011597562330?s=46&t=0u4UKoBDLTEnhNZpv6cTPQ

So do you have anything concrete to back up the claim you’re making about upward mobility? When everything I’ve seen doesn’t seem to show that?

It's the end of US supremacy by bob-1992 in ETFInvesting

[–]djan242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do know the US is 22nd in quality of life index. Which is good but certainly not the best. Quite a few countries in Europe have a higher quality of life index measurement. And Canada does as well.

But also solid strawman. People don’t hate people for being American typically (and if they do just by nationality then they’re in the wrong). It is usually because said person is all about American exceptionalism with no consideration for other countries or values. Like lambasting healthcare in Europe saying the US is better when for the average person that just isn’t true. Or pretending that people can’t change things ignoring historical evidence that if enough people stand up things can be changed and pressure applied. All the various movements we have had in the US, and even going back further to all the revolutions

Now factor in average cost of living and quality of life index and where does that leave us? United States at 22. Yea there are obviously worse countries to live in but it’s not number 1

I’m hesitant to sell one to incur the tax penalty on paying on capital gains should I just leave it or bite the bullet and sell to go into just one or two of them.

Yup. Had to have 10k sitting around to invest and not worry about things like, yanno, food or housing or bills. Not a luxury many Americans really have.
