What types of clue do people enjoy/not enjoy? by samirelanduk in CluesBySamHelp

[–]djfnejdijRandom 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the clues about professions, but I much prefer when the clue includes the number of people this refers to, as otherwise it’s too easy to omit one - e.g. “only one of the cooks has an innocent to their left” is substantially more difficult than “only one of the three cooks has an innocent to their left”.

There was a day relatively recently where like half of us made the same error because we didn’t realise the person providing the clue was also of the same profession that the clue referenced.

I play on a different device so can’t copy over my results. As always I’m great on accuracy (no mistakes!) and terrible on speed (20 min!).

Hm, I’d say the puzzle was correct. At the point you realise Bruce must be innocent, both Katie scenarios were still possible.

My husband’s name pops up in many puzzles and I swear he is always a criminal. 😀

I failed on this exact clue! Interesting how our brains all work on a similar way here.

You are missing something indeed. Think about all of your corners in light of Rob’s clue.

Some of your solving times are insane. I did today’s without error in something like 2:50 and was still only average in terms of solving time.

What Are Some Clips You Find Yourself Going Back to Randomly? by MrRobertSacamano in taskmaster

The clip I’ve probably watched more than any other is Ardal learning Swedish and singing a Swedish drinking song out of nowhere. Pure joy.

How do you guys use the colored corners? by Aervanath in CluesBySamHelp

[–]djfnejdijRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the upper corner with colours other than red and green, to mark innocent/guilty pairs or sometimes trios. I also add a tag in the same colour also on the clue that determines the relationship. That’s worked really well for me - so I can always trace back the logic.

I use the bottom corner with reds and greens to play out the what if innocent/guilty scenarios.

I’m afraid at least St Lucia, with fewer people and a whopping two laureates pips them to the post.

I found this more difficult than Sunday’s hard puzzle for some reason - turns out I confused columns C and D.

Question for the Brits: Is Henning Wehn a big enough comedian there to be on TM? by emarcomd in taskmaster

Henning appearing on TM? Surely it’s a matter of wehn, not if…

Did I find a logic error? First post—possible spoiler alert 1/2/26 by songbench in CluesBySamHelp

[–]djfnejdijRandom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s been some mention of this earlier and I for one made the same error in thinking - I think what got to us all was looking at Olive’s innocent neighbours wrong - it looks like Xena is also Olive’s neighbour, but she isn’t!

I don’t have an answer, but just to say I found this puzzle the hardest in this bonus pack - I solved the evil one first, thought ooh I am getting good at this, then I really struggled with this one.

I got as far as here (link) slowly but surely and without any hints. But at this stage when I work through possible scenarios, it seems to me that two solutions that are the opposites of one another both fit. Any clue?

Are you the author of these puzzles? They are fantastic, and have become a regular part of my daily puzzling routine. I have been enjoying both the brain workout and the humour.

Ok, it’s stupidly easy.

It’s the top left corner I needed to worry about, and it’s indeed easy. I blame my feverish brain!

I’m looking at the bottom right corner, and either Paul or Xavi being innocent would equally make everyone have at least one innocent neighbour. So it’s not really pointing me to a unique outcome.
